If our nations were not so hard upon regulations on nitro fuel. It would be much cheaper and easier to obtain. Shippers/Gov't need their cash cow first!

Just got back from burning my first gallon since 2011. Flybar. 30% in an OS91HZ (non pumped). It’s weird how everything came rushing back—-tuning took half a tank..I accidentally strapped on 715s and it was a bit sluggish. But vtx 697s are the business (plus a few more ticks on ele and ail swash mix).

Coupla clicks of trim here and there and I was instantly 10 years younger. I have missed 7 minute flights. I found myself wondering what to do at about 5 minutes—oh ya…fly!!! Next thing I know it’s 5 flights later and I’m sucking air out of the bottom of the jug.

I’m still on cloud nine as I sit here on my couch—watching tv, browsing RR and catching a whiff of nitro off of my clothes and hands every once in a while.

if it ain't broke, break it.

When I first started flying, I'd fuel up, take a nervous piss, start up, hover some, muster my courage and bust out a flip - and LAND, ASAP! My hands shook and I'd need 15 minutes to collect my wits.

At some point I realized I would never get better if I kept flying 180 second flights. I started setting a 10 minuet timer not to tell me when I had to land. I set a timer to let me know when it was OK to land. 5, ten minute flights in an afternoon will take you much further than 3, three minute flights.

Do you do this because you simply don't like oil residue on your hands or do you believe there is a health risk?

just pulled my 600n apart to go through it and had to fly my electric. your so right about the 3-4 minutes not being enough. with the header i can easily go over 10 on the 600n. but i limit it to 10 for health reasons- sometimes i cant hold my breath that long.

only you have the power to make no difference!

They have just discovered saliva is toxic!!! (But only if taken in small doses over an extended period of time.)

I've been bathing in model fuel for 50 years. I know it's anecdotal, but if model fuel is toxic, I probably would have known it by now.

Everyone knows someone who has smoked a pack a day and lived to 80. That isn't proof that cigarettes are safe. I get that. But if model fuel is toxic, I'm one data point suggesting you can swim in it for at least 1/2 a century and still be kicking.

wjvail, you aren't just one data point, you are one out of hundreds of thousands. Until fifteen years ago if you flew any kind model other than rubber powered free flight, you flew a glow powered model. In all the thousands on modelers I've met in the last 55 years, I've yet to see one that has had a health problem because of handling nitro fuel or breathing nitro exhaust or hear of one with a problem caused by nitro fuel.

Listen, if nitro takes some years off your life, its the years at the end so I can deal with that.

Wonder why they would bring out the 700 before the 600, the 600 would be a far better seller.
