Had to work New Years day a few hours north of Kansas City. It was -10 deg so I don't feel like I missed out.

Finished up a 500 I was working on. Spooled it up on the cellar floor.
It was 5 out so that's as far as my test flight went !!

I try not to miss the New Year fly. This year it was 1F (-17C) and 10mph winds, so it took some real motivation to get out. 1 flight on my 800mm Protos and 1 flight on my Goblin 570. I'm glad I can say I did it, but it was miserable. If the winds had been calm it would have been fine and I would have flown more, but the winds killed it for me.

new years eve under moonlight, tried to spool up but 380 had a slight blade imbalance and gyro wasn't happy and it wobbled. Sorted the blade imbalance out new years day and proceeded to take a 700mm blade prototype mold plug seriously (have it almost 100% finished today except primer and finish contouring).Temps new years eve were in the 10f range. 380 has the iron man paint and was hard to make out as more than a black silhouette on the snow. Since flew it yesterday. The 380 has a "what the heck" pair of customized blades on it that have inspired me to make a 425pair for a 420 (because 420 blades are in short supply and it is comforting knowing an alternative exists at a relatively inexpensive price, except mine are better than stock in ways).

Bit of advice: NEVER...NEVER EVER take a 700mm blade mold plug seriously. I have learned that they just arent very literal in nature. Damn things will turn on you as soon as your back is to them.

I feel a more cordial approach is favorable.

Well I got a Mavic Pro in the air, but to me that's really not flying.

Negative 27 up here in Maine without the wind chill! No flying but tinkering on my 700 electric bird. Also suppose to be getting another 20"+ blizzard tomorrow. But that won't stop me from going to the field!

"literal", well. Absolutely have I finally finished a serious 700mm blade plug to cast and pull blades from ($300 a pair?,, maybe). That makes #3 in the rc heli plug making interest, one 700mm blade plug, one boom for a 420 and one canopy for same. Several parts already redesigned and prototyped for a 420 like frames, skids, tail shaft, and a grip mod if/when the 420 blade plug is done (6mm root), time and inclination will tell 2018 and all now.
