Hi all , bringing back to life an old Hirobo Huey with flatbed mechanics , engine is OS 61 LX with a 42mm bolt spacing ,Needing a header and pipe or just a 60 size pipe to fit , not sure what these models used , also what oil to use for gearbox ? Can I use shock oil for RC cars ? a reasonably thick one...?

Hi check out the site I linked below. It tells you the type of oil to use. Gear box oil. They ran the aero plane muffler with the silicone bend on them or you can run after market pipes

The sealed main gearbox just uses normal Hypoid 80 auto transmission oil.
Should be easy to get from any Auto place.

flat bed mechanic's

Hi Gazza,
I do like your Huey & I have just done the same with a rare classic Hirobo Enstrom Shark. Best thing I did was to throw the motor in the bin & I then converted it to electric. It's so smooth & sounds great with no mess & no flight box. It is such an easy conversion as the mechanic's are made for it.

Hope you looked inside your g/box just to make sure. Originally when putting back together they used epoxy but on mine I used a modern sealant which was Loc-tite 518 it was great. There are a few rules when using this product but not difficult. I use W 75 transmission oil in mine & works well,

Cheers Victory

Victory,

Wow, cool to see a very rare Hirobo Enstrom in the air! Any more photos?
