Does anyone know if plugging a spectrum TM1000 into the ikon 456 slot will work? I would like to free up a slot on the ikon for a redundant power source.

if it doesn't fit, make it fit.

The tm1000 needs power . the 456 slot is for signal wires only . Don't add power to it .
Use a y harness instead for a power lead.

do you mean Y harness into a servo port like SRV-1? If so, one lead of the Y would go to the servo and the other to the battery?

if it doesn't fit, make it fit.

You have an iKON 2
You most likely also have 2 Spektrum DSMX satellite receivers connected to it.
It sounds like you have a transmitter that supports telemetry.

FYI: I sold 3 TM1000 for $35 each and bought 3 Spektrum SPM4649T "quad-copter" SRXL receivers with telemetry for $45 each.

I use them on my eHeli and Nitro with the Brain 2 (MSH makes both the Brain 2 and the iKON 2)

The only thing I miss (a little) is the temperature sensor that comes on the TM1000. That was nice to have with the nitro engines, but I don't miss it that much.

The benefits you get with the iKON 2 / SPM4649T over the TM1000 is Real time telemetry from the iKON 2 (a lot of what was logged in the iKON is now in the telemetry stream sent to the T) and your ESC (if you are using HW, Kontronics or Castle) (like mAh used - fuel gauge) and you can do all the gyro setup and adjustments through the transmitter's LCD screen.

And, the "4,5,6" port should NEVER be used for power (either in or out).

Believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you hear.
