It's just Alcohol with a lube package and an oxidizer(nitro).
Pretty sure it's methanol, not alcohol.....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Ok..Ok
I just posted the idea as a possible solution to the unwillingness of hobby store owners to stock fuel..people are always skeptical when discussing changes from what they are used to..I remember it wasn't too long ago that lipo batteries were new and different and there were some that wanted to keep flying with sub-c nicads!

I do a great decending funnel!

Still boils down to demand......

The hobby shop close to where I live in Florida just closed its door for good..... The did have a very limited supply of nitro fuel available......

The general decline in business over the years was the root cause of their demise thanks to the Internet. Since Al Gore invented the Internet I guess we can blame him, right ??

On the other hand, there's a hobby shop in the Rochester , NY area called Performance Hobbies (Webster, NY) that has diversified enough to be doing fairly well.... not only with the electric ARF stuff but with the "drone frenzy" as well as AirSoft guns.......

They carry a decent supply of nitro fuel in various percentages.....

I'm in the area visiting family during the holidays and have been in there a couple of times visiting friends since moving to Florida 7 yrs ago.....

I'm not happy with the 3 degree temperature this morning nor with this unusual frigid weather for December during our entire trip !

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

I didn't mean to offend, just posted why I though one size fits all won't work.

Will probably see more and more of this happening. The finicky, messy and expensive to run glow engines are being replaced by more powerful , less messy plug and play electric. i see 40 to 60 sized nitro planes and helis being sold dirt cheap, nobody wants them around here. its either electric or big gasser birds

Nitro is still cost effective for me.. but I guess I like the mess, smell, sound, and fuel and go aspect of nitro. I got into the RC hobby when you actually enjoyed building and working on them as much as you did flying/driving them. Now a days people just want plug and play or fly by itself stuff. Exactly why drones are more popular now.. I guess its to each their own. Ill still need to buy fuel, as long as tower hobbies doesn't quit selling it I will be fine.

Uh -- don't tell anyone and spoil the surprise, but methanol IS alcohol. Methyl alcohol.

There is nothing cost effective about glow fuel for me at all but I still love it and still want to fly glow powered models.

My electric JR Vibe is beautiful to fly beyond describing but really

zzzzzzzz a bit boring!

Futaba T18SZ, JR Propo XG14, Hirobo fanatic!

Folks that I know who make their own fuel refer to it as methanol..... but of course, as always, you are correct.(compliment)
