I have been talking to the folks on the OH-58 FB page and they have been a great help. It seems that the weathering on the sand colored ships is actually"stains", rather then the rivets working. The ships were painted in country by mixing brown and white "Latex" paint to get the color. Any areas of the ship that was subject to getting POL products on it turned redish/brown, on the Latex. Stains showed up anyplace that oil, hydraulic fluid, JP-4 or what ever, leaked or spilled. Going to have to work on my air brush skills to get this.

Bummer the strips arent working the same way for you as they did for me. It'll look good when done nonetheless!

Real rivets on the Cobra? Maybe....I'll hire a professional for the Cobra....

Thanks for the vote of confidence Steve. The strips worked out fine, just in a different way. They were a big help and am glad you turned me on to them.

Roy, mine are 2mm, with 2mm spacing, edge to edge. You might want larger for an 800. Chad will make you some test strips for $5.00. Just give him a couple of sizes you want to try.

Canopy section done. I like the color and the weathering will set it off. Now, on to the back end.

Very nice Jim. What paint did you use? I really like that shade, it reminds me of the older OD that was used before the uber dark version. Mike

Thanks guys.

Mike, it is "Krylon". Found it at Lowe's believe it or not.

I believe this is the old OD you are speaking of.
