Hi guys need help.

I purchased used and didn't come with a jumper plug and I think it's in mode 4 as per manual

Heli spools but will not turn off motor even with throtle set to -130

I'm using spektrum so can I use Spektrum jumper to change to mode 11 or can someone shine a light on my motor issue proper jumper configuration.

You must do a recalibration prior to every setup

Jumper
- make your own
- pull from a CD rom, any PC device
- if not, make your own out of old servo lead
- connect (short) the middle pin with pin towards + power lead side

TX
- set linear 0-100
- have motor hooked up
- TX @ 0%

Programming
- connect power
- pull jumper out
- let ESC beep 1
- move TX to 100%
- let esc beep 1 after descending tone
- move to 0%

Do the same procedure again for Mode 4

Once you get ESC setup .. I would suggest learning about Mode 11 and go with that.

* Mode 11 available with later version

Thank you Heli Fanatix! I will be doing this come this weekend. Mine does have Mode 11 available according to the .pdf that the previous owner sent to me via email.

Perhaps you are going to this weekend's Orlando Helicopter Blowout in it's 10th year Anniversary? It runs from the 7th to the 10th. Hope you can make it with a cool account name like yours!

Thanks Scott

I had this machine in front of me this weekend for final lookover before he maiden it.

Since I dont own a Kontronic ESC, I didnt want to take the chance of inserting a homemade jumper and who knows what could have happened without knowing which pins to short. Thus the reason behind this thread.

My intention was to change to mode 11 then back to 4 for RPM Gov...a simple reprogramming sequence.

However, your suggestion to go to mode 11 (vs 4) prompted me to ask you... why?

Edited
FWIW...more info
Neither throtle hold which is -100 nor throtle cut which is -130 would shut motor off.

Thanks Pete and I'm always happy to contribute.

I highly suggest Mode 11 b/c:
- the ESC will learn your motor, gearing, blade, gear train combination
- now every pack you fly results in same performance
- providing the packs are not too far off in quality
- for example: Pulse & Thunder Power ... not Zippy 25C

This is available on the Jive Heli ... than later introduced to to other ESC versions. That's why depending on your version, you may or may not have Mode 11

Mode 4 goes by voltage
* DO NOT Setup Mode 4 than Mode 11!!!!
* Set up Mode 1 > Mode 11 and do the following:

- charge packs to 4.15
- spool up and go into hover for 15 seconds
- than fly as you would

Set Throttle Percentages in flat curve to get your desire Head Speed
That's about it. Maybe 10 minutes to do ?!?

Every time you change a motor, pinion, blades .. redo the Mode 11 setup.
The ESC just needs know what is bottom & top stick. Could be -101 or -100 or -150 or 100 or 120 or 180!

By doing Mode 1 > Mode 11 .. you accomplish this.

Hope that clears things up .. if not, ask and I can break it down even further
