Could anyone explain the difference between the two as far as flight characteristics go and obvious parts count. Im at a crossroad to go in either direction, im assuming the SSR-6 may perform better, any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I’m finding it hard to get any depth of information on Hirobo head characteristics now as most people have gone flybarless. The SSR heads are up to the 8 now and the SSZ went up to 5.

I’d quite like an SSR-VIII on my Freya but I have noticed many people far prefer the SSZ’s to the SSR’s.

I think Dr.Ben is the one with the most knowledge on this subject.

Haha yeah seems to be the case, flybarless interest's me in no way, rather the feel of going the older route, I love the look of the ssr heads, I have an ssz-2 head but im just going to move with the ssr, thanks though

Flybar Length
I used to have the SSR VII in my F3C Hirobos. This was 2004. At that time, we had full support from Hirobo, Futaba, OS, YS and Cosmo fuels. More importantly, our setup guru was no less than Kurokawa of Black Hobbies, the same man who does Hashimoto’s setup. The next year, he had us all change to the SSZ III which wasn’t that head itself but rather an improvised version. We used the 490 mm flybar. None of us ever went back to SSRs since.

If I had the money I’d have an example of each!
