If you want to develop any type of aircraft, you must buy/rent the software to do so.

And it's from the same manufacturer that makes AUTOCAD....which is now AUTODESK.

And it's super expensive....like $180/month just to rent.

Totally outrageous.

What is good, is that that some people....have developed aircraft that are better than those included with RF.

Colleges get SW discounts and the students have made such aircraft...which is to their credit...and such aircraft work better, in general depending.

I flew Real flight 3 one time in a Hobby Town USA and it kind of reminded me of helisim which is not bad.
I liked helisim and flew the blades off it when starting out.

If its fixed don't break it.

RF 8 is head and shoulders beyond RF 3.

Not even a valid comparison anymore.....

I'd have to have a new computer to make Real Flight work I imagine. There might be a place to get a good graphics card in my PC.

If its fixed don't break it.

Do not forget the knife-edge swap pages when it comes to models that you want with a different look or different flight-characteristics.
I'm still running RF3.5 with all the models that I like to Fly being versions from the knife-edge site.
Try that Sukoi SU-27 jet with thrust-vectoring, I love the description on that one, it says ; "You will crash this model many times before learning to fly it."
I'm sure there is a updated version by now.
If you need a few tips on tweeking the parameters on these RF sim. models send me a PM and I can give you a good starting point.

I don't believe that aircraft developed to run of RF3.5 will run on RF8.

There are 4 types of Logos I use, on RF8. The oldest version was developed for RF6.5, the newest RF7.5.

They work good with either a JR12X or VControl TX, once you get them trimmed via the "Edit Aircraft" menu.

Look in the swap pages to find the RF Sim. version that you have and access the variants from there.
I know with my RF3.5 I am able to download some that are for RF4.0 and I can access all of these RF4.0 models and their variants with the add-on disc (for RF3.5).
If you look closely you can change things like Main-rotor blades (to night-blades (one of my favorite things to do)) AND, I believe with the newer versions of RF you can even change to different motor (including Gas, Nitro and Electric) configurations (?)
I mainly "tweek" things like servo-speed (ms) and always change my head-speeds to a much higher RPM.
This often requires lowering the GAIN in the fbl controller.
The possibilities are nearly endless ....

I even have Eco8gator's file with Chris Harmon's Nitro-powered 3D Dominion with ProBAR fbl controller.

Perhaps it's that aircraft developed on later versions of RF are not backwards compatible past a certain point.

Anyway, my original point about RF still stands.

To develop and aircraft from scratch requires the use of the CAD software....and to obtain that software is very expensive.

Does the specs state you can create new models or just customize?

Is that the same as buying a heli and having to buy a CNC machine-mill to "develop" parts for it?

End users "tweak or customize" an existing model and that is what editing mode is for and works.

I still use 3.5 as well and the "worst" part is no one online when hosting a room but that's on me.

Go to their site and look up what's needed to develop custom aircraft.....like I clearly was stating.....

And then you will see what software development tools are required.

And then you can lookup the costs for such software development tools.

I could not find what may be clearly stated as "needed" as opposed to what's "included".

However I did find an alternative that you can use to achieve same results.

And, your link doesn't work.....

Do you want to argue that 1" is 1/2 wavelength at 2.4 GHz again?....LOL

Sorry I didn't check if "download" link worked before posting as I had no intentions of using the software...my bad.

However, I hope the following link makes up for it.

Yet you didn't check before you posted your nonsense.

Why is that?

It's not "cool"....
