How can a transgender be considered stable in any case?...the confusion a person has about their own gender must be overwhelming. The pressures of military service combined with massive emotional/mental has to affect performance. It is harder for confused people to function as effective soldiers.

Calling it like it is. Abnormal.

Back in the day you were not allowed to join the military if you had flat feet. Now folks with known mental issues are allowed in and we are expected to accept it. I served six years in the USN and witnessed a buddy get removed from the base when a group of lesbians made up some story that he assaulted them. I'm confident he had no interest in these hags but they considered him a threat to their lifestyle.

MEO (Military Equal Opportunity) would have a field day with some of the comments here. You have no idea how many EO and discrimination briefings and CC calls I have to deal with every year.
...and YOU just proved all of our points for us. Reread what you wrote above.... you are spending time with this CRAP when you could be using that time for more constructive things.
As has been said many times, the military is no place for social experiments.
P.S. - I'm over 200 lbs. Could you throw me over your shoulder and carry me 200 yards to safety??? Be honest....

having been married... TWICE, and the second time in for nearly 10 years...

my research has definitively concluded that:
ALL women are mentally unstable. Lesbian or otherwise.
... this in turn results in men around them becoming mysteriously homicidal, suicidal, or brainwashed into believing they should become women in order to assimilate.

there... now give me my PhD.

I'm 126 lbs....could I throw you over my shoulder and do a fireman's' carry? No...not at 200+ lbs of dead weight. But I can do a clothes drag or a two-man carry. I have done a 50yd firemen carry with a 175lbs person during CST training though...it wasn't fun but I do what I have to do when I need to. And I do know I wouldn't leave you behind either.

But there are a lot of men who can't to perform that carry also. So, by that standard, they shouldn't be allowed to serve in a combat role...not just women.

well by her answwer I gather that:
1) you would die or become a POW
2) both of you would die or become POWs

As the average weight for soldiers in my unit that were out on patrol was about 180lbs then add another 20lbs minimum for the gear/vest items...

short answer was anyone that was not about the same weight was not moving that individual... dragging or otherwise. What you do in "training" for garden variety military is a joke... when the real situation hits the results are usually far from what was done in training. This is why we value combat veterans the highest on preceding deployments.

and yes, there are plenty of males that cannot perform in a combat role due to being either too big or too small. We were smart enough to keep them out of our patrols.... too big and no one was going to move you big ol a$$... too small and you couldnt move any one else should they need help.

However, while back at the FOB, all male units wouldnt have to deal with female distractions... if not present.

find a solution to female induced stupidity for men in the military and you solved the issue of all women in the military combat role or otherwise.

Don't misunderstand me...

I'm not saying that we should just let anyone serve just because they want to. I'm not saying trans genders, women, or anyone should get preferential treatment either. What I am trying to say is that if a transgender can perform at a consistently high level and keep their private life private...then why not let them serve?

There are trans genders serving right now and most of them are no more disruptive to good order and discipline than a rowdy young airmen fresh out of high school with a chip on his shoulder.

And taking into account that yes, some trans genders have issues, but so do most of us in some respect or another. You cannot predict what will trigger someone to "go off" i.e the church shooter.

Simply banning someone from serving because you don't approve of who they are is unconstitutional. I say if you want to serve and you are able and willing to perform at a consistently high level and you aren't doing anything that contradicts core values, then why not? Once you've breached that standard or you are unwilling to put service before self, then you need to get out and make room from those that do.

Plus, there are hundreds of AFSCs to choose from. If your issue is combat roles, they can still be Aircraft mechanics, personnelists, med techs, or even handing out basketballs in the gym. You don't even need a security clearance to do that. Simply banning them from serving because you assume they must be mentally unstable is contradicts everything we stand for.

wow... you made sense.
Simply banning them from serving because you assume they must be mentally unstable is contradicts everything we stand for.
but right there is where you went wrong...

every single study done has concluded that suicide rates are nearly HALF for Trans-Gs... HALF for both female and male.

thats the flip of a coin... and when it comes to someone killing themselves... thats some seriously horrible chances to be playing with.

So knowing this, why take a chance? why tease the risk?... we should be removing the risk... not playing with it.... and study it elsewhere.

So with that being said, all those ex-military or active that went bonkers and killed in a fit of insanity... the military had every single change to get them out or fix the issue BEFORE it happened... but political correctness, emotional bias and laziness resulted in them reaching the point to where they cracked and let loose on fellow soldiers and civilians...

Ouch RM3.

But, you never know what someone is capable of until you are in a given situation. Some of those Big ol' mens of yours might cower and cry behind the tire of their Humvee and some of those female distractions might be difference between you making it or getting pegged by a round in a fire fight.

Adrenaline can make people move mountains. And if we are going to be POWs...we will be POWs together. I won't leave you behind...I will drage you by your nose hairs if that's what it takes.

Even at 126lbs, I can drag a 200lbs man by his vest or the armpit clasp. I just use my legs. It burns my thighs but I can do it.

CST training is no joke. Sounds like you know a few things about it. You know it was 3-4 weeks of not fun.

oh god please dont...

CST training... is simply not reality... Ive forgotten how many times soldiers completely forgot training while in a firefight, or after an IED hit us... some froze, some did really stupid things, like forgot how to use the radio and call for medivac... the ones that did well were those that had been there before OR by instinct were naturals.

this has been proven throughout history... the experienced combat veterans were often key to winning a battle... training only gets you so far. Proven in the skies WWII, on the ground in WWI, proven in the middle east, Vietnam, Ancient Rome...

its not easy for anyone. And I do applaud you for having gone through the training (usually every year for us like NTC, JRTC... between deployments), but having been through combat multiple times I can tell you one thing is certain, Lieutenants often panic, soldiers forget how to fire a rifle, or clear a jam properly, often fail to load a magazine properly, and tunnel vision is real, some freeze, a tiny few psychos relish it... adrenalin my give you strength.... but at the cost of allowing the brain to think logically (flight vs fight)

but yeah... your right, its not till you get there and it all goes down do you then see who can handle it and who cant. but Id rather not play the odds:
The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but that is the way to bet.

But they do and that's the issue.

Lady Magic: I hope you have a happy Veterans Day. I know you are overseas, and during the holiday seasons, it can suck really bad. Unless you have your family there with you. I remember the Christmas's I spent in the Squad-bays oversea's with a horrendous e-tool chopped down tree with belted blank ammo as garland, and beer cans hanging from the limbs as bulbs. Wasn't much, but it was our tree.

Those that serve deserve my respect. I honor them, until and if they do something to break that respect. Male, female, don't care. They all offer to sacrifice their live's for their country.

I was involved with the first PT test for WM's (Women Marines) at OCS in the early 90's. The test was to see if WM's could perform up to male Marines PFT standards. Situps, 3 mile run, and pull-ups.

I don't remember exactly how long it went for, 6-9 months, but we did prove that about 80% of the WM's tested, with intense monitored training, could pass the MINIMUM (yes, some scored very high) male PFT scores. But it needed a lot of attention and man hours to do so.

I am proud of the females that elect to serve their country. BUT that doesn't mean they can be in a combat supportive MOS (Arty, Armor, Infantry). Some things are not meant to be.

I use to tell my Marines, there is no such thing as a good or bad Marine, only a good or bad Human Being. That decides who the Marine really is.

Happy Veteran's day to all!

I have a question..

One of the main arguments that was tweeted by a certain someone is that a transgender person will cost too much with all their medications, surgeries, and the fact that they are making the government pay for their surgery...that they will only join so that DoD will pick up the bill.

And even if that was completely true, what's the difference between them joining to have their surgeries paid for or you joining just to have your college paid for through the GI Bill? Free medical care is one of our benefits the same as free tuition. And its really not as free Trump makes it sound; it will cost you at least 4 of the best years of your life...and oh, you might get deployed and die.

So, even if they joined solely to have the DoD pay for a surgery, it's not actually free because we have to give up a lot of personal freedoms and comforts for those benefits unlike the civilian world. That is why we have the incentives in the first place.

To demonize them for taking advantage of those benefits does not make any sense. It's not free and you have to earn it...sometimes in blood.

Really, Trump makes it sound? How about like what EVERYONE has made it sound like. YOU CAN'T PIN EVERYTHING ON TRUMP. OMG...GET OVER YOURSELF.

4 OF MY BEST YEARS was in the Marines at my youngest age. So?

What's your point?

A college degree is earned, and it is earned so you can be a productive part of society and make a descent career and provide for your family.

That is equal to a sex change, how?

Really LadyMagic, you are off track here. Way off track.
