The current Congress closed a loophole that Taylor's lawsuit exploited. The new law explicitly allows for an RC aeronautical vehicle registration system. Case closed. Laws are changed and modified all the time. Loophole closed and gone.

My point is; anyone listening to you is taking a risk of being caught and fined for failure to follow a very simple law. The fines are large, $10K-$20K. FAA is serious about following the rules.

If you are following his advice, you are foolish.

Loophole??????

Come on.....

Taylor's lawsuit exploited NOTHING!

It was the FAA who did the "exploitation"...you can't see that?

Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) created the addendum that made hobbyists EXEMPT from capricious rules of the FAA.

The FAA administered by a political HACK named Huerta.

The exemption rule was passed and became federal LAW....and TODAY is STILL federal LAW.

Regardless of what the AMA "thinks".

Taylor's lawsuit was to ensure that these people...that try to ignore LAW...have to follow the law.

With regards to your 2nd paragraph, you apparently haven't been keeping up....Rafael Pirker "flipped the bird" to the FAA fines for this....and never had to pay a cent.

And, Taylor is an attorney...knows the law...and you're not an attorney...and your legal assessments are worthless.

So, I would take Taylor's legal advice over yours...at any time of day.

No offense intended.....

Flying under the Special Rule for Model Aircraft

The Special Rule for Model Aircraft (P.L. 112-95, Section 336) (PDF) provides the definition and operating rules for flying a model aircraft.

Note: Model aircraft operators that comply with all of these operational requirements during flight do not have to register their UAS with the FAA.

Model aircraft operators must follow these rules to fly under this Rule:

the aircraft is flown strictly for hobby or recreational use
the aircraft is operated in accordance with a community-based set of safety guidelines and within the programming of a nationwide community-based organization
the aircraft is limited to not more than 55 pounds unless otherwise certified through a design, construction, inspection, flight test, and operational safety program administered by a community-based organization
the aircraft is operated in a manner that does not interfere with and gives way to any manned aircraft
when flown within 5 miles of an airport, the operator of the aircraft provides the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport) with prior notice of the operation (model aircraft operators flying from a permanent location within 5 miles of an airport should establish a mutually-agreed upon operating procedure with the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower [when an air traffic facility is located at the airport])

A model aircraft is defined as an unmanned aircraft that:

capable of sustained flight in the atmosphere
flown within visual line of sight of the person operating the aircraft
flown for hobby or recreational purposes.

LOL....

#1) At this time, according to federal law, as hobbyists we don't have to.

#2) Do you really think that $5 will remain at $5?....Or might that increase, depending on the "whimsical" nature of unelected bureaucrats?

#3) I'm not wasting $5...and I'm not taking any chances.....see #1).

But, you go right ahead and register and spend your $5.....to a 3rd party based on the "whims" of the AMA.....

That's a little extreme compared to this issue.

Don't think there's any comparison.

Of what date...in what year?

That looks like some "cut and paste" thingy.

Please post an official govt. document indicating that Pres. Trump
signed any such document......

If not, the previous federal law is still valid.
