I wonder if "keeping up with technology" is the hobby for some, while flying a helicopter is the hobby for others?
It's both....and also, like you've shown, is making stuff....on your own...for the hobby.

That is the "hobby"....

BeltFedBrownin, what an impressive effort, incredible.

Flying and building helicopters is the hobby for me. I have a mix of petrol, glow, electric, FBL 2 blade, fbl 3 blade and of course flybar. I always go back to the engines and usually the flybars. I flew my 3 Blade Vibe E8 last night and only lasted one flight before boredom set in, this inspite of it’s impeccable handling with it’s TAGS01. With my Freya and D3v2 I just don’t get bored.

This is largely a mechanical and aerodynamic hobby for me. Electronic improvements and mechanical minimlalisations are not what I’m here for.

As for Goblins I’m sure they’re great but I just can’t get past the canopy and undercarriage designs, not my flavour. I’m more Hirobo/Quest. Like everything in hobbies, it’s just personal taste.

Mechanical minimalizations. I like it
I think the closer a model helicopter looks to a Bell 47, the more I like it.

I remember seeing a film of that thing running. It was jumping up and down like a pogo stick.
It must of had a flybar, it was an early model. LOL

We will look at price matching if asked. If not possible, we will find a solution. Hope that answers the question.

Oh my, haven’t we created something very beautiful...
Damnit, now we got Mr. Green posting updates and I've now started wondering how I can build that shuttle plus2. Damn this thread...
Yeah, and I would say it went way off topic very nicely....love it

Yes Igor Sikorsky he was a pioneer for sure.
I had some friends that worked there. Two of them were good friends with James Wang. One of them was in charge of specking new heli's for countries around the world. He just retired this year and moved to a ranch in Montana.
He was going to hook me up with James when he was around but that never worked out. I would have liked that.

Wasn't James Wang the one that had some early videos on setup and flying that always ended with "remember, break a blade"

It's just like your tail doesn't care what pitch is set at neutral, as long as the gyro is in HH it will simply adjust the servo to where it holds the heli still.
yeah but flip it out of HH and pyro city!!

only you have the power to make no difference!
