I have a 500 UH-1D fuselage on the way and have run into a problem. The drive belt and gear box are made in Germany and the guy will not sell them to the USA.

So, is there a source for different length drive belts?

You will not have a problem finding one. Can you ask from Germany the length and other sizes? Guys, please help him out other than my info. I know there is one in the USA.

We need to know some numbers besides the helicopter name and version. It is a scale aircraft, right?

I'm gonna help Jim out here.. The German company has the correct TT complete for the fuse but will not sell to USA. And they say you can use a belt drive but will not give him the numbers. What can I say! They have the right to not sell to the uSA but, that's not friendly, ay.

What is your tooth profile and belt width? Raptors used XL tooth profile. Xcell used GT3. Trex 450 used MXL tooth profile. You can use any length you want as long as you have a boom to match.

Here is a link to the belt calculator. You will need to know the tooth profile and the number of teeth on your belt pulleys.

As an example, here is a link to a Raptor 30 tail belt.

Here is a Outrage Fusion that I converted from TT to belt drive. I am the king of belt drives, LOL.

Jim and I talked about that but, until he gets the raised tail box for belt and match the raised tail pulleys to the front gear and tail rotor pullys before we can calculate. I was thing of TT if he can get the raised tail gear bos, then we can cut TT and tail booms to get it to a good fit. TT is easier in a raised tail then belt for install and repair and easy mech removal in a fuse.
Please continue to help him with his question, but I'm going to try to talk him into TT. OOh, Jim, sorry man I didn't see you standing there

Timing Belt Source
Hey guys, you can also find timing belts at McMaster-Carr. Follow this link and use the gray box on the left side of the screen to narrow down the belt you need based on your specifications.

Thanks everyone. Once the fuselage arrives I will be able to take measurements. Now I know it can be done, so I'll move forward.
