Front Torque Tube gears
When is someone going to come out with metal replacement gears?

The red plastic front torque tube gears seems to be getting easier to strip.

They use to sell grey gears, three sets to the package.
Then went to white gears, three sets to the package.

Then went to single sets of Black which was a little stronger.

Now red, which strip easy.

Align please make stronger gears!!

Fbl systems and simulators are making people fly much harder than they used to plus the tail gyros and tail servos are much better so people are running more gain. All puts extra stress on the drive train.

However it's not the first complaint I've read about the red gears. Maybe go back to the black gears or aren't they available anymore?
60% of the time, it works every time!

There's more than you need here, but there should be enough to get the job done:

I think the black gears were stronger than the red. They need to come out the fiber reinforced gears like Hirobo makes.

If you look at the instruction manual for these helicopters, these metal gears will not work.

Interesting. I use them in my 600-size Blackhawk scale helicopter which uses Align 600 mechanics. Never had a problem.

I don't have the other umbrella gear handy for a pic, but it fits in the front tail case supported by those 2 bearings just fine.

On the other hand the main black gears that Align brought out do not work with the older models,we had a hell of a time trying to figure out why the main gear kept locking up after the 1st flight,I used the Sport the Pro and the Super pro all had the same problem, gave up in the end went back to the grey and white main gears.

Very simple solution for this problem.

When you design such mechanisms, you need to follow rules for maintenance job, for instance.

In torque tube system, the weaker element are the pinions.
If you design with metal, all forces for destruction in a crash, are going to destroy other things you don't want.

In torque tube system you have at least 4 pinions. For open tails box, you probably want both in metal fashion.. Ok... No problem.
So, on the other end you found metal /plastic gear... You see?
What is the weaker part?
Plastic.

Don't waste your time looking for more problems.

Saludos cordiales,
