RR posts now have a quote link. This new system asks you to select what to quote. This allows for better context and more granular multiple quoting. It's a work in progress. I need to add buttons for formatting tags and smilies. Please post reply your thoughts.
Select-Edit-Preview pulls it all together. More granular quoting is job one. And throw in multiple quoting to boot.

This implementation is asking you to select what you want to quote. Whole post quoting is annoying if posts are long. The forced preview shows you what you are going post.

I’m glad you do decided to try to implement my suggestion
But something is going goofy on my iPhone

One other suggestion..... the “quote “ should include who you are quoting automatically....

And I had to take an extra step to “select” the quote..... that’s cumbersome and should be automatic....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

That's the whole point. Please read my previous reply. This reply is more understandable with a shorter in context quote.

I tried to quote you on this reply but it’s too cumbersome, at least using my iPhone!

Most posts are short and it would be most convenient to just click on the quote button and reply.....

For the longer posts why can’t you limit the number of characters????

And again , the person you’re quoting should be included!

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

I see now. Well, it certainly makes sense with the "quote selected" button. I guess I was a little quick to the gun!

Niiice..and multi-quoting is just as easy.
The forced preview shows you what you are going post.
Very nice.

Mark,

Please consider adding a SELLECT ALL button in the new "quoting" window.

Technically you just added 3 more steps to a common function.

Yes I stripped out this common function 16 years ago from the base RR code. Quoting all is abused more often than not.

FWIW...the common fuction I was referring to was the copy and paste.

* * * * *

Mouse free keyboard shortcuts: (Select All, Copy, Paste)
CTRL-A, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V and my favorite...Ctrl-Enter to post.

Quick and easy.

So when in EDIT tab, I click on SELECT MORE and it takes me back to SELECT tab where I have to highlight more text to include in quote?

Maybe I took "multiple" to mean other than OP post.
Understood
I now see what you meant by "multi-quote"

It seems to help if you want to address multiple sections separately such as questions. Got it..."Granular". Slow Monday morning.

I just updated the code to disable the Edit pane if it's blank.

Thanks for the feedback.
