I need a little help here folks......my old pc crapped out and I got a new one (yea me)......well....I am starting to fly again....would like to try some new things on the sim. My new PC does not have a CD/DVD drive. I called Knife edge technologies and they do not have a downloadable answer. They said I could pull it onto a thumbdrive from the old PC......well....I no longer have that PC. Any thoughts?

Take the two install DVD disks to a friend and have them copy the files to a USB stick device. You have to name the stick the same name as the DVD disk #1.

I hope that you have both install numbers needed to register the product. One should be on the back of the controller. The other should be on the software disk container.

That is good advise. Mine is to save $20, and have a friend with a DVD drive make an image of the disk(s). Put the disk image somewhere on the filesystem of your new machine. Name it whatever it needs to be and that should work fine...likely be faster too.

Edit: I should qualify that I have not tried this. I don't own either a windows machine nor that flight sim. However, the concept works all day long on UNIX/linux.

Works great with legacy windows systems. Just connect it to a usb port and perform the realflite install from this external usb dvd drive. Works just like its an internal dvd drive.

Ta was right on the money. When my laptop dvd drive quit, was running win7, and thought it was fubar. Then saw they had legacy external usb dvd drives at best buy......and for only $20......ended up getting 2, just in case......lol.......completely transparent when installing whatever S/W on your old pc or laptop.

Yeah, that's the ticket, exactly what I would do. Turn my computer over to a 15yo. Ooops just lost all the pictures from 15 years. Oh well! Nothing could possibly go wrong.
