Thumper 217, The speed control is a large part of the helicopter control, So when my CC esc controler Quit in the air I had much damage to my bird, grant you they fixed the controller for free but.... not the damage to my bird! That I had to eat! So I went to Kontronik, I haven't had any problem in the air with them, I only had a problem once on the ground, and a new ESC and I was back in the air. I destroyed all of my CC esc's I would not sell them to some one to take a chance of going in. Just my two cents.

All electronics in our hobby are subject to failure without notice. And CC has had their fair share of failures. I think it was the Phoenix Ice 100A that really went south due to manufacturer not following design specs. I had one that caught fire while in flight but somehow it managed to continue to send power to the motor and I was able to land unharmed. Any failed esc was replaced by CC and anyone who had one could be replaced with the newly built ones upon request no questions asked.
I think it's the way we setup our heli's that is the uncontrollable veritable that sends most esc's to their grave. Improper gearing and to low HS for the esc's working range is asking for trouble. So if I see a flight temp of 170F or above I revisit my setup. I personally never want to see over 145f unless it's a 95F day with high humidity and I typically only use 60% to 70% of a pack or packs. I come down at 3.80 to 3.85 per cell so it's around 3.70 while drawing voltage at end of flight. Batteries aren't cheap either.

Hey guys.. Just for clarification.. On a 2 pack 8s,10s 12s ect setup and the bird pulls 30A / 30c contentious for normal flight, nothing fancy.. It only draws 15a from each pack, correct? give or take a couple amp difference between the 2 packs. Or is it drawing 30A from both packs?

30 amps out of each pack Volts is higher in a series set up but if you did a par set up the amps would be split.

Thanks Darrell.. Not what I wanted to hear I was hoping it was the other way around.
My JR is 12.5 pounds running on 6s 5000 30c, and runs 30a all the time and up to 33/34a briefly if I pull back to hover. I was hoping for better results with a 8s serial on 30c packs. There is no room for 6s parallel.
