I saw a Trex Clone 450 FBL (IKon Controller) fly today.. I really thought it was flybared. It was so loosy goosy.

So my question is, if a 450 is setup correctly, does it fly "locked in" or is it just the size that makes it loose? Of course, it could have been just the guy on the sticks.

Depends on the setup. I have flown some of the afore mentioned units but I'm strictly a Skookum guy now. Locked in, and predictable.

I appreciate all of your help
I am done with FBL setups. If I buy one, it will be a Goblin 700 with all the electronics that comes with the package.

I will be selling all my FBL controllers and pick up a FVP drone.

I have 5 flybared helicopters that will stay with me.

Nothing wrong with flybarred helis other than parts availability of course which is a shame.

https://rc.runryder.com/t800539p1/

Notice how close and low the heli is and how it's not TOO fast so you can see exactly what the heli is doing?, I know Mark's camera work is exceptional but still!

Compare it to one of todays 3D heli flights (sorry, Goblin flights! :rolleyes, which are way too fast, far away and high up!

Bring back flybars!!

60% of the time, it works every time!

Every FBL RC Heli that I have flown 500/550/800 have flown "locked in" with BeastX FBL units. I would not even consider going backwards to a flybar except for the fun of flying "loose". I know inverted is having trouble, but if he got some help, I really think that he could get something he liked.

You can't go wrong with any Align heli combo with a Beast X.
They all work fine.

Thanks for your dedication to help me
You people have no idea how much I appreciate your input and time. I really thank you over a million times!

I will try again someday within the next 2 years. Gonna save money slowly to buy a complete RTF FBL helicopter from SAB. Proven design and proven electronics to work out the box on default settings. This is what I am aiming to do.

Picked this up for $385.00 minus DX6

I am just getting back into the hobby and everything is now FBL. I purchased a XK K110 to play with and tweaked it enough in the radio where it flew like my old flybared helis then slowly backed the programming out over the course of a few days, I left expo a little higher though.

I had that little thing tuned to where it was as docile as my first raptor 30. Only thing that was different was the “don’t touch it when you take off” bit.

I think the FBL setups just come out of the box geared for 3D or with the stability deal without any real inbetween. This has been true of the blade 130s I bought and this XK deal.

I flew outside in heavy winds with the XK/130 yesterday... something that is way more of a challenge with flybar setups imho.
