Looks like Ikon 2 is the key. Many people are praising it. Might be worth a look?

Tried 3 separate flybarless
3GX flew it...just didn't like the character

Vx-1e never got off the ground

Ikon 1 v2

Set it up but it killed my digital servos...geez still grounded on the ground. I checked the frame rate and pulse. These were low life servos!

ARG!

Align DS 620 and ACE RC DS 1510

The DS 620 had lot of mileage but the ACE RC DS 1510 were low life servos.

I clicked on the digital servo settings in the Ikon software, shows it at 1520/165 hertz speed. I looked at the Analog settings which were 1520/50 hertz speed.

AM I using the wrong servos?

I did a lot of work with the 3G and finally got one of them to work as it should. Never could get the rest to work. The fix for the one that I finally got to work was the tape. I had been using the 3M tape that comes on a roll with red plastic that peels off to expose the sticky surface. This transmitted too much vibration to the sensor. The tape that worked for me was the 3M 9448A tape that comes precut into about 3/4 by 1 inch rectangles. I also had good luck with the futaba mounting squares. I finally switched over to beastx and had good results with it.
One nice thing about beastx is you can adjust them at the field without a laptop.

if it doesn't fit, make it fit.

Ace RC DS1510 and Align DS 620 are digital servos.

DS 620 have the 1520/333 spec matching on ikon

DS 1510 are digitals but specs are unknown

One DS 1510 burned out, mostly likely from using 1520/333 spec.

All I know is, I am about to walk away from FBL controllers. It is crappy and needs a lot of work before it is customer friendly.

I have spent over 10 hours yesterday. I am not wasting my precious time being a guinea pig experiment.

Out of 4 FBL controllers, I have managed to get Align 3GX to work.

If someone can point out the servo matching and step by step, I am willing to try again...otherwise they will be put up for sale/trade.

I understand the feeling, I felt like that once but only because I was not setting it up right. I never use 3GX, however, I used BeastX, Vbar, and Spartan. They all have their heakups but you have to know what you are doing. I prefer Vbar, and I have been using it for years now with no issue at spool up. Got to follow the instruction and know what machine is being used on in reference to vibration on sensitivity settings.

Wow it's not going very well for you. I have 15 or so 2700's and BeastX and never had a problem of any kind. Maybe I missed something you did but it dose sound discouraging. I would not give up as FBL makes it EZer to fly. It kind of takes the work out of it.
I still fly flybars and enjoy them but it's over for them and you can't sell one anyway. LOL

can't say I blame you for feeling frustrated, hang in there and keep using the Ikon you already have.
The FBL units does not burn out servo's at random unless you select the wrong settings.

too high of voltage could burn out a servo or too high refresh rate.
afik.

it could be you had a defective servo

Based on information taken from the Thunder Tiger website, and its current crop of servos, I believe your DS1510s were only good for frame rates up to 166 Hz. Digital does not always translate to 333 Hz frame rate is safe.

As with anything new, there is a learning curve. Flybarless controllers are not magic, you just need to learn how to set them up.

You had success with the lowly 3GX, but abandoned it before perhaps giving it a chance.

The other two brands you tried were decent, but killing the servos wasn't necessarily their fault.

If in doubt, stick with the stock 50 - 60 Hz frame rate, you'll rarely fry a servo with that setting and will get pretty good performance out of the overall system.

Ok
I will take a few days and find some matching servos that are a precise match on ikon's listing. One more chance for me....i am already frustrated....cost me some good money recently.

Currently in the process of installing the FBL system on the Trex 600 esp. Will get back with you guy soon. You can help me tune the the FBL to be rock solid. I do not want to risk my raptors!
I did the same thing as you indicate you are doing. When I converted my ESP to FBL, there was all kind of issues with having way too much control throw. You will need to switch your grips to FBL ones, and then move all the cyclic servo balls into the inner most holes (like 8mm from center of output hub to the ball, or 16mm between balls). The push-pull bellcranks are designed with a geometric multiplier for FB use, and give too much throw for FBL.

After doing those changes, my 600 ESP flies great.

I'm surprised the Ikon drives the CYCLIC servos at upto 333hz! Are you sure?

333hz drives servos pretty hard and not all servos particularly cheaper ones will like being run at 333hz.

BeastX for instance will only go upto 200hz on cyclic. No need for anything higher on cyclic really.

The old Align DS620 wasn't a very reliable tail servo especially if you tried running one on 6v. Even on 5v I wouldn't run it higher than 270hz.
