I'm also not a fan of direct servo to swash linkages. For me less complexity means a lot less brain stimulation and eventual boredom.
Don't agree with that one....don't see how they are connected(pardon the pun)....lol

Electrics are much easier, just plug and play.
Really?....I'll try to remember that when I'm trying to setup the FBL....

I wouldn't bother with Century they are gone from the helicopter scene as well.
Audacity has been around for years and they will more than likely be around for some time.
Synergy, Align, goblin nitro and the new msh nitro. MA has returned.

I wasn't aware FBL systems were unique to electric's?

As far as direct servo to swash linkages are concerned I quite like the servos being in the front of the heli away from the main shaft. Also in a crash the servos seem to survive a lot better when they are run through a bellcrank. Just personal preference.

While this thread seemed to have turned into yet another elec vs nitro, the following definitely caught my attention...
...plus a few 6s 1200mah for $20ea to try it out.
The smaller lipos don't last as long but you still get 800+ flights out of each $20 battery.
Although Im confused on The smaller lipos dont last as long

BUT

I'm definitely interested on the ones that you still get 800+ flights out of each $20 battery

PLEASE post a link to these must have batteries.

~~Enjoying the hobby one flight at a time~~

I bet that 800th flight with the same battery is mighty short. Just sayin

How many flights does one get on one gallon of fuel?....then multiply as needed for the comparison....

And add the cost of plugs....

Plugs can last a very long time. Their cost versus flight time is insignificant. It all comes down to tuning.

Define "last".....

Sure, they can "work" for a long time.....doesn't mean that they provide optimal performance over a long time.

Regardless, if one is to make an accurate cost comparison, one has to include all of the operation costs....

Helis have gotten way too hi-tech and powerful and as a result the prices are just too much for many of us.

I last flew fall of 2015. I miss the fun of flying but not the hassles with software, Mikado firewalls and such. My Spektrum was acting up at the end of the season. I bought a Vbar Control and didn't like the interface and the hassle of changing everything over. Especially the nitros which I had painstakingly sorted. At the same time, Thunder Tiger basically went unavailable, and my favorite X50 was no longer viable. Sure, my big electrics were still great, but the constant electronic, computer evolution became more of a burden than fascination. I sold the Vbar control and haven't touched anything since the winter of that year. About a month ago, I suddenly lost most of the vision in my right eye due to what the doctor refers to as a "stroke" in the eye. Permanent loss. I don't dare bother trying to get back in now. I really miss cranking up my Trex 700N most of all. Has a sweet running YS91 Tareq edition which went through a speed shop for some mods. It is a real hoot to fly. Sadly, I think my days are over. It was certainly thrilling for a number of years, and I totally dug all the hoopla and comraderie.

Been reading this thread and getting caught up. Haven't flown since 2013 I think. Can't remember....

I've got the itch again and it's nice to see nitro making a comeback. I was a huge fan of nitro and still am........

Best of both worlds
I figured with my purchase of nitro and electric....best of both worlds. We don't live very long, better live it up folks! Pretty sure helicopters won't exist in the next life!

No it didn't.....

I tried to talk Mark into using the auto-quote system most other sites use but he doesn't think it's a good idea......

So , you need to "copy" the text you want to quote, open your response window , click on the "quote" option , paste the text you just copied and then finally select the "quote" option again to close out your quote......

Oh , almost forgot..... as yet another separate step , you also need to say who you are quoting!!!

Very cumbersome indeed ......

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....
