Looks good, Mark.....

Just a suggestion..... I would like to see "most recent" rather than "relevant" as the default........

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

I like the most recent over relevant as well.

MARK,

Maybe its my tablet but when doing a search in RR, as Im typing into the Search Terms field, an auto fill menu drops with suggestions and blocks all 4 fields under it (Select Forum or Group, Member Name, Search, Sort Order)

I have to fill in starting from bottom up to avoid this.

Use the word battery as an example...so many options, long list.

As for Sort Order preference, I vote for Relevant as default.

Tnx.

I just uploaded a temporary fix turning off type-ahead on mobile devices.

Vote for default search sort order...

3 for Most Recent
1 for Relevant

RR Search Updated
New update and big improvement with "Select Forum or Group" and select "Sort Order". For these two you can now type in to narrow down the selection. Very helpful for selecting from RR's many forums.

Relevant sounds more like what I would be looking for.

With all due respect, do you know what "relevant" means in this context ??

When you do a search and leave the default "relevant" marked, that means that you will get all of the search results starting with the OLDEST response...... If there are a lot of search results, that means that you will have to sift through all of those pages until you find what you are looking for.....

When the selection is changed to "most recent"..... well, that's self explanatory....

In both cases, the results will be "relevant" to the search topic......

Sorry if I assumed you didn't know the difference.....

Mark , I have a suggestion that might help with this issue..... why not change the terminology ?? Instead of calling it "relevant" , why not call it "oldest results" ??

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Relevant is not oldest. There IS an oldest choice. Select it and see the difference.

I do and why I voted for it. Practically a text matching system.

Most "relevant" to your query are shown on top, hence the more info you enter, the better your results.

Using quotations will search exactly for those words.

Sorting will be a secondary function.

Yes, relevant does not say oldest. I think it means pertaining to.
That's what I am looking for.
I have searched in the past and have gotten a lot of stuff that I didn't want to look through.
I am still with relevant. Not that it makes that much difference.

Another update with improvements to the "Search Terms" field. Now works much better with mobile devices. To close suggestion dropdown on mobile just touch outside of it.

Another update with improvements to the "Member Name" field. Search should now be good to go with all new technology.

https://rc.runryder.com/search/

For the "Member Name" field type in "ryder" to see new autocomplete in action. For the "Select Forum or Group" field type "futaba".

Nice.

Q
Can names have space or still have to use underlines or whatnot?

I think space has always been allowed. See my name and now yours.

Just removed the advertising from the top of search. Much easier to see what's happening.

There is a reason. The saying "cut off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind.
