Jim Bateman aka Soup Can passed away this week at the age of 55. He had been in the hobby close to 20 years. Spent a great deal of time at Mike's Hobby Shop in Carollton, Tx before it closed. Also spent a lot of time at Aerohobbies in Lewisville, Tx.

He leaves behind a wife and unborn child due in October. He will be missed by many. A great loss to the DFW heli community.

Jim Bateman
Thoughts and prayers to his family. I remember him coming to our funfly here in Mt.Pleasant, and dropping paratroopers from his helis skids, 3 or 4 at a time.

Did he have enough insurance or do you Heli friends want to take up a collection? I am 55, and I will put some money up for a fellow Heli Man!

Not sure but would think he would have had life insurance. Job 1 when you have a kiddo in the oven.
