What is the average head speed you are running on the Align 450L 6S with the Slant main gear?

Ok doing more research I have a 450L 6S and it looks like I'm getting a rotor rpm of 2900 or higher, too fast for this old dude. I have several 450 on 3S and I enjoy head speed of 1800- 2000 so I have it posted for sale but I got to thinking and maybe I should just change the motor to 1200kv motor is there one out there that will work in the Align 450L?

you could try 4S or a smaller pinion or a lower KV motor

I'm thinking a lower KV motor is likely the easiest, any suggestions on a motor that would fit?

going by your specs 6s stock gear ratio of 11:1 to get a 2000 HS

I believe this is what you're looking for

excellent I will try to locate a pinion that has a 5mm hole I think it is a 3.5 hole on the stock pinion.

I would think you could just lower your throttle curve. I have three curves. A slow one, my normal one and full 100% one. I havnt had and issues running it at the different speeds. I don't think I've ever done a full flight at the slower speed though but I think it can handle it.

Simply using a 4s pack is going to be the easiest and probably cheapest.

You will also get more flight time than changing the motor.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Best method is smaller pack like 3s/4s but you just lower the TC and it will work. Its not going to anything to the motor. It will just run out of its peak, but it don't matter that much.

I have two 450L's. I was amazed how fast the first one was so I built the second one with a three cell Scorpion motor that I had.
It still went good but not crazy like the six cell set up. My son found a pinon that went on the Scorpion at A-main hobby's.

Wow are you in luck. I just went down stairs and I still have the package that the pinion came in. It's a 11 tooth slant gear but has a different shaft hole to fit the Scorpion motor. The Align part number is H45161T. The motor was a Scorpion HK11-2221-8. I had to file the motor mount a bit. The Scorpion motor had bigger bolts on it. It came out to the same head speed on three cells because the motors KV was twice what the stock six cell motor was.
Good luck.
