Hello all
I've just picked up a smashed x50 with some parts. One of these parts is the x50 torque tube drive metal gearbox, complete with the bevel drive gears that I don't need.
I've noticed the slots cut into the top and bottom ( machined from the factory). Are these gearboxes dual purpose ( belt and torque tube) and can I modify it to take a belt drive?
Which other parts would I need?

I'm about to start looking for parts to build a Frankenstein ( belt) gearbox but thought someone might have a head start on me.

Regards
Gemheli.

You can use the case for belt drive.

Thank you very much.
I can make up any shims and collars required, as I have a lathe.
I'm assuming the end game is to get the pulley located centrally in the case and just take up any end float.

Do you know if the pulley and shaft are the same as standard ones?

Do you know if I can use the PV0030 shaft?

Kind regards
Gemheli

The tail rotor shaft should be a PV1378 with the metal tail gear. I don't know if the PV0030 shaft and plastic tail will work with the metal housing, the gear shaft pinning holes are not the same.

Thank you all.
I'm unable to acces that link, but think I'll just take a chance on modifying a PV0030 shaft. I'm assuming the metal pulley/gear on a x50 is just bling and a plastic one would work just as well, providing it has the same demensions.

It's sad that owning a x50 has become a scrapyard challenge!

Thanks all

I have a NIB X50 minus blades if you would like to purchase one. I am sticking with the Raptor 50 Titan.

Thank you.
A nice thought, but I think postage would be pretty high!

Here is how I converted the tailbox on my Fusion.(they never made a belt drive Fusion)
I used a lathe to get rid of the extension that held the TT bearings and opened the rear to the ID of the boom so there are no snags to catch a belt.
