Which ones are the best to go with or what Tareq uses in his?
They have the D6, X6, and S6 style.

The greater the amperage rating, the better...I would guess...

Why would you select a product just because xxxx uses it? A different connector style shows up on the market every ten minutes. This is just another bullet connect in a different plastic case. I suspect you are shilling the product.

"I suspect you are shilling the product."

That's absurd....what's your problem?

Given the fact that Tareq is a world class pilot....and uses some of the best equipment available, why the heck would one NOT want to know what he's using?

What are you "shilling" for?....Jeez

Factory rep asking what connectors to use? BS, he was trying to drive sales. If that was not shilling, what is? I certainly don't let what any pro uses drive my selection. This should only be about current requirements, not what fancy plastic surround is used.

What is wrong with you?

Nothing at all.....thought your comment was ridiculous...

Heli splatter: it doesn't matter if I'm a rep or not. Did I ever say use this product over another? No I did not!
I simply used Tareq as an example because that's where I saw them in his videos and wondered what they were.

And to clear things up, I personally like the clicking feature and how robust they are. This is why I'm asking.
You jumped to conclusions before I could explain.

Thank you Engineer! You are one that looks at all angles before making an assumption. Cheers to you!

Well then he should pay Mark for an advertisement rather than sneaking one into a thread.

"sneaking one into a thread."

Sneaking???????

How could you possibly read that into the question he asked?

That also is totally absurd....

Heli splatter. Would you prefer it if I changed my signature to no rep? What difference does it make? Is Tareq a Helidirect rep? Nope!
You can unsubscribe from this thread if you feel that way.
Yet you can't answer the question I had in the first post and rather assume it's a marketing tool. Grow up or get out! And your ignore list is growing I see.
If you can't answer my question about these connectors then move on.

I just checked them out...and according to Amain...

The Pro-D6's don't specify the 24K gold plating thickness....although the Pro-D5's say they have 5 micron 24K gold plating...and the Pro-D6's price would indicate the same thickness...might have to call to verify.

The Pro-X6's specify 3 micron 24K gold plating thickness....

The Pro-S6's specify 5 micron 24K thickness....

Personally, I don't care for that big solder cavity...but that's just me....

At least they have a current rating(all the same)....and state 24K gold plating and thickness...I'd go with the 5 micron, if I got some.

Wasn't clear what the connector diameter is....which is what I look for.....the larger the diameter, the more connector contact area for less contact resistance. Which means less voltage drop/wattage dissipation in the connector....

In the Henseleit TDR2 manual, connector diameters less than 6mm are forbidden...lol

Going bigger is better...

Engineer: thank you for going in such depth with the description. I think I will be going with the 5 micron set. They sure are expensive but I'm sure very good quality. And it makes sense to go at least 6 mm or bigger.

I'm using the S5 myself. I tried the S6, but found the soldering cup area to be too big when using 10-12awg wire. The S5 is a little larger than EC5. If you're using 8awg then the S6 is mandatory.

Quality is conformance to the requirements. What specifically are you referring to?

IMHO, they're not perfect.

1) They are not keyed so you can easily create a dead short if you're not careful, especially with the "S" series.

2) The small plastic clips that go on the housings are not available for purchase separately so if they break.... There have been reports of them breaking.

3) I've noticed that some of mine are damn near impossible to separate while others appear almost too easy to separate.

4) They can be difficult to find and out of stock for long periods of time.

Also, when using the S5 connectors w/10awg you do need to keep the wire round while tinning or it might not fit in the contact.
