Ive meet very few Vets that cant actually work, doing anything at all...
Individual unemployment benefits are paid to veterans who are disabled as a result of military service and can't work.
when you can get a Disabled Vet tag, park in Handicapped parking get 100% disability... all because you have "hearing Loss" or your Knee aches on cold days... you're just leeching off the system. I have even had some fellow soldiers get a scratch in country, get a Purple Heart, then play up the injury to get more benefits so that they dont have to work. There are also plenty of Vets double dipping... claim disability, then turn around and work as military contractors... Thats BS in my book. and I am a Vet.
I think if you actually read whats in the proposal (and you didnt), you would find that alot of this has to do with fraud waste and abuse in veteran programs, so that funds can be reallocated where they are actually needed. NOT outright cutting benefits.
BTW for someone to cry that others are "draft dodgers"... should only be allowed to be said by someone who has actually served honorably.
from the article:
But Fuentes noted that the VA, which administers the benefits, was one of the few agencies to get a proposed budget increase, which would mainly focus on extending the Veterans Choice program that allows veterans to get health care outside of VA-run facilities
..."Under this proposal, veterans eligible for Social Security retirement benefits would have their IU terminated upon reaching the minimum retirement age for Social Security purposes, or upon enactment of the proposal if the veteran is already eligible to receive Social Security retirement benefits," the budget document says...
AKA Double Dipping....
President Donald Trump's proposed budget plan for the 2018 fiscal year would increase spending across the Department of Veterans Affairs
The VFW has coordinated with other major veterans organizations to oppose the proposal, Fuentes said.
AMVETS, one of the nation's largest veterans advocacy organizations, called the proposal "stealing."
Have you ever had to deal with the VFW or AMVETS? or any other of the dozens of veteran organizations? more red tape to get anything out of them.... oh but they are sure quick to send you an easy bill in the mail for "dues"
reminds me of all the churches in my area... make alot of money, dont get taxed on it, and the pastors get rich. (hey, its not "my" corvette... its Gods corvette, its not "my" mansion, its Gods mansion)
Congress overwhelming gave its stamp of approval on Tuesday to a piece of legislation that will allow the VA to potentially make sweeping changes to its workforce across the country.
The VA Accountability Act passed the House on Tuesday, which now heads to President Donald Trump.
The bill clears the way for the VA to reduce pay, withhold bonuses and terminate employees more swiftly, a topic Shulkin has often cited as a problem that has taken away attention from lingering issues of poor care at VA-run facilities across the country.
“We are not kicking anybody off of any program who really needs it,” Mulvaney said after the White House sent Trump’s first full budget plan for fiscal year 2018 to Capitol Hill.
But there are people getting food assistance or disability payments who should be working instead, and the federal government can’t afford to spend as much on health care programs for more than the most disadvantaged, Mulvaney said.
but of course, you didnt bother to read the proposal.... guess you need to pass it to find out whats in it huh?
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...
