Mikado Canopy Protection
With regards to your beautiful Mikado canopies....

The "cutout" for the main shaft seems to be a weak point when removing/re-installing the canopy when changing the main battery packs.....At least for me....

Mine starts to develop cracks at the sides of this cutout...

To prevent this, I use some "Mikado Edge Guard" obtained from Mikado USA. It comes in lengths of 1 meter...and in two colors, black and clear.

If you apply this edge guard around the canopy cutout, using CA, the cracks can be prevented before they start....or can be covered up if they have already developed from use.

Carefully apply the CA from the inside of the canopy to prevent it from running over the paint on the outside.

Should work just as well for all types of canopies also.

What I do is run stranded CF around the inside edge of the canopy in the curve and imbed the CF with epoxy. Goblin canopies were notorious about cracking in the corners. I haven't had one crack after I started modding the inside of the canopy.

My Logo 700 canopy is too tight on the swash or rather the servo to swash links. My 690SX is the same way.

My 700 came with the edge guard. I prefer the look of the black though, so I use the SAB. But, yes definitely use something.if it ain't broke, break it.

I actually did this by accident.

I thought the 700 directions were to install that around the edge of the canopy at the top and bottom where it goes into the frame.

I trimmed a U shaped cutout in the canopy where the swash servo arms were really close and used a rubber cement to glue on the top.

When I got to the bottom, there wasn't enough edge guard to go around the bottom cutouts.

In addition, it looked like it would be a super-tight fit without trimming some of the bottom of the canopy so I left mine bare.

Oh well, at least I know the top is reinforced.

You need to put some at the bottom, too....

Before it cracks....in addition, there's more strain on the canopy there....whereas there's no strain at the main shaft cutout.
