5/25/2017 - 5/29/2017 -- Muncie, IN (C) MEMORIAL DAY IMPROMPTU FUN-FLY GET TOGETHER. Site: AMA HQ Site 3. Gregory Alderman CD PH: 440-344-9714 Email: email@example.com. Sanction #17/157.
Fly what you bring! Open to all RC aircraft whether gas, electric, or turbine, heli, airplane, or multirotor. In honor of Darrell "Big D" Bell, the $30 pilot fee will go toward an AMA Commemorative Walk of Fame brick in his memory; we are hoping to receive enough contributions from those who knew and loved him to be able to purchase the large granite brick for $1,000, or the smaller brick etched in gold for $500. That money then goes toward the AMA Foundation. All contributors will be recognized as donors in Model Aviation magazine. Any additional money left after the brick is purchased will be donated to Camp AMA, since at least four of D's "nephews" have helped or instructed the youth since its beginning. That money will help with equipment and supplies or any other necessities they need for the camp to run. D loved seeing the youth come up in the hobby.
Registration will be taken on Friday and Saturday only; all other days are open flying. if you did not know Big D or do not wish to donate to this fund, we will waive the fee, so don't feel like you "have" to pay. Just let us know.
We will NOT be doing pre-registration through RC FlightDeck simply to avoid the fees associated with it. Cash or check ( made out to Greg) at the event or by PayPal friends and family to firstname.lastname@example.org
so we don't have fees.
If you can't attend, we will accept donations by PayPal (see above) or cash or check addressed to Greg can be sent to: PO Box 5
Oakville, IN 47367
All required AMA event registration paperwork will need to be filled out before you can fly. All AMA Safety Code rules will apply and be followed.
We will have a very short pilot's meeting on Friday and Saturday morning to make sure everyone is on the same page and there are no issues about who is flying where or how we all are flying (in the pattern)
Saturday night we will have our pulled pork potluck dinner at our camper. We ask (if you can) to bring a side dish to share. We will provide chips, buns, condiments, cole slaw, macaroni salad, plates, plasticware, etc. Bring your own chairs and your own drinks. We may also have a can out for anyone who wishes to donate a little bit of money to help pay for the meat.
Hotels in the area: http://www.modelaircraft.org/aboutam...Locations.aspx
Camping at Site 3: first come, first serve; no reservations. Cost is in the link below. If arriving during working AMA business hours, register at the HQ. After hours, go the next morning and register. On the weekend, register at the museum store. http://www.modelaircraft.org/aboutama/camping.aspx.
There are 10 full water, sewage, and electric hookup sites, and an additional three that are water and electric hookup only.
We will also be having a special raffle Saturday evening of an Extreme Flight 75-inch Edge that Darrell's estate has donated, along with a complete electronics and radio package that includes a Falcon propeller, XPert servos, Pulse batteries, Castle ESC, Extreme Flight motor, and a Spektrum radio and receiver from Horizon. Tickets will be one for $5/three for $10. The Edge has never been flown and is one of six that were made specially for Pulse Battery reps in the green Pulse Battery scheme.
I will be keeping track of all who donate and how much they donated. PLEASE let me know if you want it as a tax deductible writeoff so that that info can be turned in. When I turn in the amount to AMA, I will also be giving them a list of each name, which should appear in the AMA donations section of the magazine, as well as who donated to D's brick.
Any questions, please email me at email@example.com
or Greg at firstname.lastname@example.org

This is just our way of honoring our "bigger-than-life" brother, uncle, and friend. D always came down to fly with us Memorial Day weekend and eat great food, and we loved having him there. Hope to see you all this coming weekend!
