I loved the ikon governor control with a hobbywing esc so much that I ditched the castle on my g500.It's not a lot to deal with. There's a lead that goes from the ESC (certain ones, others you can get a HW sensor for 5$ that works well with ikon)Then you punch in a divisor number
(Half of your poles on your motor)Then you punch in your desired headspeed.
The IKON's default values for gain and such are likely to be just fine.Plug, punch, punchThen you're good to go.Much better than the built in governor on the castle.Take the plunge!Goblin! where have you been all my life? RC helis, the original fidget spinners |

I just started to switch everything to Gov from flatline, now I'm learning to fly without all the bad habits I developed while flying flat line... Well a modified U, my flight times are longer batteries and motor are happier and it's easier to fly, cyclic is awesome! my worst castle setup is better than my flatline, just watch you gains/ tail kicks. Going gov and not looking back. |

my worst castle setup is better than my flatline Yup.We can give you a billion reasons to use a gov.But I think this kind of testimonial should be all the convincing you need. Most of us fit into this;Once we used a gov,

Loved that "flying shop rag" vid..... Done that...but not with the rag...better "hang time" with the rag...lolAnd all Cox engines will do it....but it's hard to hold a TD.15....if at all.... Logo 600SXs, 800XX, TDR IIs |

Throttle curve Hold is at 0, normal at whatever gets me smoothly to 100%. Usually about 0-35-70-100-100 or thereabouts. Idle up is at 100%. Head speed is controlled by a combination of motor KV, gearing, cell count, blade length, and pitch curve. I'm fortunate to have arrived at a pretty good setup and I couldn't tell that using the governor worked any better. |

Another alternative is to use "flat" gov curves for throttle in both "normal" and "idle up"....and then use "pitch" curves to suit your style of flying.Makes things less complicated.... Logo 600SXs, 800XX, TDR IIs |

If you can't tell.
Perhaps you should try a different governer. No matter how good your set up is,The discharge on a lipo is still a curve.By that fact,
An ungoverned headspeed will change drastically from start of flight till the end.A difference that can be felt, seen, and heard.Goblin! where have you been all my life? RC helis, the original fidget spinners |

It really comes down to how you fly or how you like people to perceive your flight! Hammering a heli on a governor can kill you flight time and packs and running 100% flat would actually be better. But then it depends how you are hammering! Tareq? 100% flat, Nick Maxwell, Kyle Dahl? Gov!In short gov for fast big air lots of pitch flying (short flight time). Flat TC for on the deck smack (gov would win slightly on flight time but unpredictable pitch response no good for on the deck).60% of the time, it works every time! |
