Motor direction question?
Is there a way to test the motor direction without rx/ tx/ and fc equipment? Can I theoretically plug in a battery to see what the motor direction will be? Or does the flight controller etc need to be connected? Just trying to get ahead of the game while I wait for things to arrive. Or should I just be patient and have everything ready first?

A brushless motor won't work without an ESC, Most ESC won't arm without the RX and TX. So wait till you have everything. BTW, with most ESC your motor direction can be changed.

Motor direction will be determined by what direction your heli needs to spin it's main blades.

Multi-Rotors
Example on a four motor set up

The 2 motors in the front should spin opposite to each other.

The 2 motors on the back should spin opposite to each other AND opposite to the 2 front motors.

*******

So, when looking at model from behind...

2 front motors we can label 1 and 2 (left to right)

Motor 1 turns clockwise
Motor 2 turns counterclockwise

2 back motors we can label 3 and 4 (left to right)

Motor 3 turns counterclockwise
Motor 4 turn clockwise

The propellers leading edge spin towards each other from the outside towards center.

Hope that helps.

I can for sure tell you that two motors spinning backwards will lead you to all kind of issues. On a S800 it nearly led to a crash, but fortunately I was able to successfully get it recovered.

I would think on a quad, it would not be flyable. So yes, yo do need to test your motor directions. I just put a small piece of tape around the motor shaft to check. I don't know of any other way with your setup to do it without the TX/RX and escs.

If the brushless motor turns "backwards" simply swap any of the three wires between the ESC and motor.-----
