I'm very sorry to hear the news.

Thanks for putting up and running such an awesome site as long as you did. Thanks for all the awesome videos too. There's nothing like watching Kyle, Nick and many more in HD when I couldn't make it to IRCHA to see them live.

I forgot your roving reporters name but she always did a nice job interviewing too. Good luck to her.

I've been around for almost 10 years and I've found many friends and lots of help over the years.

Don't worry, things will get better. It's just going to take some time. Keep your chin up!

Even though RC heli popularity has gone down over the last several years, they will never go away.

Good luck to you in the future.

Sincerely,

Dave D.

There's got to be something we can do. Can we all pitch in and keep this thing alive ? I'd be glad to donate, advertise, market, whatever. Let me know how. I love this site. My home away from home.

I thought about the donation / investment thing and then thought does Mark need money or someone who has the website skills to keep the improvements and ingenuity coming who can do it more out of love than the need for an income.

I can donate but will it help?

The knowledge base is huge. I hope it can be maintained somehow.

I have used the site for many years. It was the first site I found when looking for information on my first helicopter.

I "think" his soon to be ex-wife will own the site.

I and many others feel this is not going to work out.

It would be such a shame to have the knowledge resource of a decade of posts lost forever. Some stuff is only valid for a limited period, but other content like basic set up, balancing, engine tuning etc, etc is relatively timeless.

a little bad can destroy a lot of good.

divorce,,,,,,,rr killed because of divorce, not surprised.

please don't suggest anything about fees and or money related solutions, the wifey is the cause of said shut down, members trapped between a rock and hard place.

what about all the members banned from hf who took refuge on rr or rcg, and what about the personal gallery content? guess person has to blog and link their own rc heli history in future. It was good a member could establish a personalized presence with their own finger print of photos and history. I'm going to loose the reference to a bulk of important info, some time ago topics I was involved in really went tooth and nail and if ever needed to prove a point elsewhere that invaluable reference will be lost, like a whole house burning down with all your personal history and cherished possessions in it, completely wiped out to become a distant memory to no one but its owner.

I may need ptsd management after July.

banned from hf cost me some established contacts and rapor, same would go for this site, there aught to be a law against dragging the whole world in on one's personal matters of marital bliss.

I know absolutely nothing about divorce. But i don't think a judge would give RR to the half that would bring it down, especially if known how important it was to him. If they did this together with mutual interest then i could see it happen.. No, i think Mark is just ready to move on. period.

Its all earth!

HeliOCD,

Most divorce settlements occurs with 50% of everything goes to the ex-wife.

As RunRyder must be Mark's side business with advertisting income, he can no longer run or moderate a website if half of it's proceeds or income goes to the ex-wife.
So in his best interests and for everyone else, he has decided to shut it down and leave because he will no longer be in total control.

times have gotten bad for some of us Americans

my wife got a complaint from one of her neighbors that her new employee

husband and 3 kids sit in there car for 8 hrs while she works guess they are homeless.

to many of us living out of cars, I never thought I'd ever see so many homeless Americans standing by the freeway off ramps panhandling money.

BACK IN THE DAY THE PANHANDLERS WERE AFRICAN-AMERICAN DRUG ADDICTS.

life in California 2 bedroom apartments 1700 a month now.

Insha Allah made in america

sell it to the members for $1 and split proceeds with ex-wife. Really, what is the fair market value of RR without Mark running it?

It would be nice if Mark would clear up all of this speculation with a simple post written in plain English setting the record straight....

But, I doubt we'll ever see that .....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

+1 on both........At least we have 2 full months for the true issue.s. to be known. Maybe none of our business anyway, but for what
Mark built up here for as long as he has, with the huge member base
he has/had, would sure be nice to know......his one small post seems
pretty ominous??

Strictly up to Mark and when he feels it is the right time.

Mark Ryder was a trend-setter and goes way back to my day. He is the ORIGINAL one that opened the door and connected the heli world together. That was his goal and he accomplished it. The rest followed.....

I am grateful for that. Sad to see it close down.

So, what is left just HeliFreaks. Other sites such as RCGroups and RCUniverse don't compare.
