So knowing the above in regards to engine size, if you would like an original version Freya 60 which is a great helicopter with parts still available from RC Japan then go ahead and buy it. If you are worried about finding a motor to suit or changing the engine mounts and gear ratio for a different size engine then perhaps this isn't for you.

Sorry scott s. I'm just not sure of the point you are trying to make?

BTW, if I had the spare cash I would probably buy it.

What I meant was I flew for a lot of years and took the last few years off. Freya was one of the helis I flew .

I miss building a little is all I meant. Freya is alright as a 60 but better as a 90

Ok Scott I understand what you're saying.

I think it would be great as a cheap to run sport heli with a 60 or 70 in it. I would think a 90 would be very easy to install by changing minimal parts. I do think the clutch/pinion on the original is different from the later Freya Evo design.

Hi Scott,

I have several Freyas including an original like this. I never flew it with a 60, and I went straight to a 90. All I did was change the 10T pinion to 12T to get a 7.92 gear ratio. It flew awesome for F3C type flying. When I started doing more 3D tumbles etc...the auto rotation assembly couldn't handle it, so I had to upgrade that part only. Note, that even the later Freyas didn't come with that upgrade (at least not to my knowledge).

As far as parts, there's no shortage of parts from RC Japan or from Jeff Green at Hirobo Fan Store. Freyas are so reliable you won't really need replacement parts unless you crash.

I don't think you can go wrong with this Freya and the price is fair.

Good luck. Bill

I`m no stranger the Freya , I flew them for years as 60 and 90 ever since I saw Todd Bennett fly the hell out of it when they first came out .

I don`t recall ever braking the one way bearing and I flew mine pretty hard .

I had a hirobo Tsurugi as my first heli, now that one way bearing was a POS
