Anyway, you found it in the end and made your decision, fine.
I am no expert with 3D modelling software, but IMHO Solidworks has been the leader for some years and set the bench mark. Autodesk tried to compete with Inventor but it did not take off so they looked at Solidworks to see how they could improve it. They came up with some very nice ideas, like being able to modify a sketch while it is a solid model. You press a key and the sketch appears while you are looking at the model and if you mark a hole and then cut it, it will appear in the model.
Any other software is playing catchup IMHO
