My Roban EC-135 arrived today. It looks fantastic. The quality is really good.

This will be my first scale heli and I am open to any input if you have flown this heli.

I got it in gelcoat white and plan to paint it with PPG. I need to have a decal and nomenclature set made by Taylor Made. I added a couple pics of what I hope to recreate.

Thanks, I am excited about this project. I need to get a couple other things finished before I start but I am in the gathering stage right now. I just pick up a Kontronik 120HV and need to figure out if I am going to use a gen 1 Ikon gyro that I already have or upgrade to another gyro....maybe Cortex 3X.

I am not a huge heli guy but I am a huge scale guy. I normally fly all scale jets. I have been flying helis for just a couple years now.

Looking at just the build quality of this Roban....I'm impressed with what you get for the money. I would say the construction is on par with the Skymaster jets that I have built.

WELCOME ABOARD!!!
Looks like you are going to have a really nice looking scaler!!! Great scheme and hi viz!!! I like that..
For your stabi you want the Bavarian Demon 3X or 3SX if you want the bail out feature... a lot of good sales going on right now on both units.. (Cortex is you plane gyro)..
You have a good large group here and all the help you would ever want..
Good Luck with your build.. I am subscribed...

Thanks for the welcomes guys.

I am happy with the products, however I am a jet airplane expert and a heli newby or sportish level person. So take my opinion with that disclaimer.

I can definitely assess the fiberglass work and fit and finish.....it looks very good and compares to some of the $6k Skymasters that have come through my shop. The mechanics look nice but I don't have much experience in this area. It is nice that the mechanics are mostly assembled which helps a lot. I will still rebuilt them to check their work and teach myself.

I have already picked my the esc...Kontronik 120HV. I need to get the rest of the electronics. I believe I have decided on the Bavarian 3X gyro, JR8717 servos on cyclic and Align 850 motor. I am uncertain what tail servo to get.

tail servo
i am running this servo on my comanche. I think you will have more of everything you will need for both speed and torque.

my first lesson from you guys...

The manual request a 700- 450kv motor. I am assuming it is based on the load of the rotor and the included pinion for the belt drive.

I was looking at an Align 850 490kv motor. Would this be a problem? How much is a 40Kv difference going to make? I realize you could gear it down but I don't know how available other size pinions are for this drive.

thanks!

more info. needed please....
In order to answer that the cell count, pinion and main gear #'s are needed. What RPM are you shooting for?
