Is it really worth the money to buy a new dx6 or just purchase an older dx8 or dx9 for cheaper

One thing that I like about newer editions of Spek radios is the wireless buddy box system that works with older radios. The voice is not really worth it to me. The newer radios have quad copter setups.

Tough question without specifics.

Cool....I'm torn between this because I can get a 9ch radio for cheaper than a dx6....is the only difference between dx6 and dx6i just the voice alerts?

There is nothing wrong with the last gen of radios, most of them anyways. If you dont need all the bells and whistles go get more channels for cheap! I would advise, if you are not into scale you probably dont need any more than 7-8 channels even for an airplane.

The only complaint I have on the 1st generation DX9 is the finish. I got mine when they first came out. Given Im an average user so I dont pamper nor am a brute, if that makes sense.

I can purchase peel and stick to customize $$ or take the time and effort to paint it black or just live with it (so far).

To date I have not heard of a recall for the DX9.

The newer generation black ones on the other hand have a very nice finish.

Given your options, IF the voice features attracks you and the extra channels will be used "eventually", then you definitely want the 9 vs the newer 6 which has limited vocabulary in comparisson.

Thankz....I've never really had to use more than a 6ch and may not ever need it but a friend was telling me that "you never know what you might pick up in the future" so that's the only reason that I was thinking of more channels but you are right....the black dies look pretty slick!

Myself, I would go for more channels if radios are priced the same or close.

You can always use channels... the newer radio does have more help for programming multi-rotors and gliders. The best way to setup planes is to have the ailerons and elevators on separate channels.. flaps too. Get away from Y harnesses.

Dx6 is a beginner radio... Dx9 is more advanced.

Hey.....this may sound stupid but I found a dx6 new version online that says that it's the uk version. Is there any difference in that version and the US version?

Most people in the USA fly mode 2, while overseas they fly mode 1. Just make sure it is what you want. I suggest sticking with mode 2 if you want anyone to buddy box with you. Below is a link to the differences.

Do you currently have any older spektrum receivers in models? This newer model only accepts DSMX modulated receivers. Otherwise it looks alright, go for it.

You can get this one the states for a few bucks more. I would say the gen 2 dx 8 is a great deal. If you get the dx6 than if you want the lipo battery and charger they sell as an additional combo you will be at the same price anyway. you will not want to be dealing with carrying AA batteries around with you.

I have the JR 11x also and it is a great radio but now that i am flying more racing drones i really like all the features of the gen 2 dx8, especially the voice feature.

Assuming you are in Enterprise Nevada?

In any event, consider checking with Horizon Hobby to verify that you are purchasing from an approved vendor in case you ever have to use their warranty services.

A flying buddy once sent in a receiver and was told it was a fake and of course they would not service it. He bought it off ebay and no way to tell it apart from a genuine one by just looking at case.

From DX9 gen 1 forward, the radios can be changed to any of the 4 modes.

Agree on the link being a great deal.

Keep in mind that the next big discounted holiday is fathers day and when I purchased mine for 15% off from 400, before they bumped it to 450.

While looking at your link, I found skin wraps in ebay for mine for less than $15. Sweet way to personalize it.
