in EVERY case.. not that I have a dog in this fight.. and I have designed and worked with Asian vendors FOR YEARS.. the intent is good.. VERY GOOD.. but the biggest place they lack is metallurgy and GRP quality. Two VERY large aspects of our hobby. Although Vario is costly AND there can be failures with their product too.. The PURE quality of there parts is great... so much better then the Asian products. They (China) just do not have the raw materials other countrys do and the whole GRP thing is just cost driven.. JUST USE TREATED GLASS FOR PETES SAKE!.. I wish (not that thats a strategy) Vario had better US distribution and costing and i wish "others" would up there hardware and glass game.

Wait a minute -- didn't you just rebuild that 53 last year or the year before? It didn't go in again, did it?

Yes, had an engine flameout ( overtemp) and had to auto it in...
Nose is completely destroyed but mechs, and “ pricey bits” all survived...
Sent the engine back to Peter and he did his magic on it All good now.
Rebuild to start shortly

I've built many Vario kits and have recently assembled a Roban 800 size Bell 412 V2
The notion that the quality of material from China being substandard is ill informed - the Roban kit is high quality - the paint work is superb and the mechanics as good as I've seen
It went together over one weekend - everything fitted well - all the components supplied - a couple of hours setting up the electronics - it was ready to fly. I get a 10 minute flight on 12S 5000 mAh
Its a different experience to starting from an unpainted body and unassembled mechanics but the speed on completion of the Roban kit was a big plus
A couple of things I would like to see improved - the motor mount holes accommodate Scorpion spacing - next time I will just buy an Align motor - and would like to see the scale fitting made from less brittle material
Not sure of the after sales service - I sent an email asking about spares more than a week ago - no reply yet

Chinese paint work is good.. and the type of paint they use is typically FAR better then most..(They have limited regulation when it comes to paint)..although thats quickly changing.

As for design.. and fits.. thats just design engineering and not that hard at the end of the day.

Metalurgy
and
GRP..

Thats all.. the rest is very nice..

I for one dont care to much about RTF, RTR or all that quick to the field stuff.. But maybe i am one of the remaining few. (and I designed for it for years!!LOL)
