One CAR BUILDER Show after ANOTHER!!!!
It's making me nuts. There are 3 million shows revolving around the same theme.

This is our shop
This is our team of mechanic/"fabricators"
This is the project car
Here's the finished product
Cue watery eyed buyer in 3, 2, 1....

How many decades can television producers beat a dead horse?

And if I see one more mutilated car that spent 50 years to make it into someone's branded tv show garage, only to become a fuking "retromod" I'm going to puke!

Stop destroying cars!!!!...and retro modding an OLD CAR is detroying it!!!!!!

Some of the shows are actually quite good where others leave a lot to be desired. One thing I don't understand is when some of the shows restore a complete rust bucket because they claim there are no good examples around to restore .... when I could find one close to home in less than a week. A rust bucket is still a rust bucket at heart regardless of the pretty face they put on it.

Regarding the resto mods, I actually like that treatment if a car is going to be driven on a regular basis. I lived through the muscle car years, worked on them, owned my share and know they are all pretty much junk at their core. Putting a good suspension, brakes and driveline in them creates a safe package that will stop and turn a corner without scaring the driver. If the basic body is preserved, the car lives on as a car that can be enjoyed as more than a garage or show ornament.

Diesel Brothers is one of the new shows that I really like a lot .. it does not take itself seriously and best of all, those guys are not arguing and tearing each other down all the time.

Another one I really like is Wheeler Dealers. I like this one because they work on regular cars either fixing them, or doing upgrades that are not absurd, or these insane builds that I know I will never be doing in my garage. I blame this show partially for breaking the ice on me getting into my Delorean restoration project recently.

I like Forged in Fire... but eventually the're gonna run out of challenges... its already getting to that point.

There was a Top Shot show... that didnt go too long... How many different can you shoot at a target in a certain way.

One of my all time favorites was Junk Yard Wars... but it too started to run out of ideas and it became apparent that they were "seeding" the junk yard with specific items the team 'expert' always seemed to either find or incorporate as the core of the project.

Naked and afraid?... we all know the point of that one... too bad they dont use swimsuit models instead.

All Car builder shows are after the same buncha people... but its getting long in the tooth IMO, and too many of them are indeed too scripted and follow the same routine. Exaggerate the personalities of the shop people, exaggerate the build, throw in some personal issues, just barely make deadlines... the usual.

Im still waiting on the reality porn show about the actors, producers and writers...
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Yep - this is the only one I like as well. *Most* of the cars they work on are approachable for average people, *most* of the work they do is tasteful, and Ed's repair segments are heavy on real how-to and light on the manufactured drama that the other shows are full of.

The ending segment where they "sell" the car is totally staged but I'll give them a pass on that becuase the rest of the show is very well done and entertaining.
