With no head/blades to hold it WILL spin the tail. A bit of drag is normal. Hold the main gear so you can feel how much drag there is.60% of the time, it works every time!

Clutch
I had a similar problem years ago, took out the motor and found that my clutch not the bell had broke which caused the tail to spin when you attempt to start it.
When the clutch broke,it compressed itself to the clutch bell.
Hence the tail moving while starting...

Replace shoe , if grabbing its the problem not the liner .
Make sure gap is correct or it will fail quickly
I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Agree with replacing the shoe ..... and buying a bell with a preinstalled liner will most likely guarantee that the gap is not going to be correct ......
WC will most likely be going through this exercise again soon .....
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Make sure the bell ID is round and concentric with no runout.
check the clutch is spaced no more than .01 in (.005 preferable) from the bell liner material. Sometimes I have to bend the shoes in or out to achieve that. Dropping the clutch on the floor can bend things out of tolerance - - - just bend them back.

Well set the clearance to 0.008" each side and replace at 0.012". May have to put some paper or such behind the liner.

I don't use paper liner. I bend the clutch shoes out to suit using a dial test indicator to verify. (very little bending needed)

Be careful with the clutch shoe.
The video shows a posible crakced clutch.
Even at first sight the clucth shoe may looks ok. But if you remove it and spread it a bit by hand you may find it is actually cracked. It will always crack at the round area. (eyelet)
A cracked clutch will work ok while flying but starting will be a nightmare every time.
Also a worn bell liner will make the clutch shoe spread more than needed and eventually it will cause a crack even if it is a new clutch shoe.
