One way bearing gone
I had a little crash with my 550sx and the one way bearing now just slips despite a new main shaft a cleaning it out with penetrating oil (GT85). Is this common? Thought these Logo's were good quality/reliable?!

Did realize that they were expected to be crash-resistant...

Check it's roller bearings and the "cage" they fit in. I've managed to snafu one by just installing the main-shaft.

They are good quality and reliable...that does not account for pounding them into the ground...kinda like buying a Ferrari and getting into a car crash and asking the same question... Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

Pounded lots of helis into the ground, this is a first!

I think the problem stems from the fine pitch gears requiring ZERO gear play (already stripped a main gear in flight because I didn't read the small print about this). This means you are never quite sure if you have it too tight. If it's tight it'll wearing out the one way bearing quicker. However the one way was engaging just fine before the crash. Anyway, just one of those things I guess (like the swash bending! ).

zero gear play?

Gear mesh or axial play?

The instructions are clear, seronlash at the high spot, you won't strip gears or damage one ways. Even if your mesh is too tight, you will melt the main gear well before you damage a one way bearing.
You cannot setup every helicopter the same, especially when the instructions tell you not to donotbthe traditional way..it is not a traditional design...

"seronlash at the high spot"

The way he explained it confused me...

Zero lash on the high-spot...of course.

I always do that...as it's clearly explained in the manual.
