IMHO - This is not how life works ... it is the opposite - you always have to decide and manage how much (time/momey) you want/can invest on everything you want to do - and what you put as a priority

It can get expensive, for sure. Do you have a particular example in mind?

There are quality, relatively affordable models and components on the market now, I'd like to know what you consider to be "priced out" means.

Cheers...

I'm enjoying the hobby more than ever. Why? Because I buy stuff no one wants, and fly it.

I made a mistake once, but I was wrong?

There are lots more products on the market today and at many different price points than there were 20 years ago when I started in the hobby. As such, I would argue the hobby is less expensive today than it's ever been.

Although I feel where you are coming from, there's something for a wide range of pay grades. I'd like a Logo 800 but it's beyond my pay grade if I want to be responsible. You can punch above your weight if you carefully browse the classifieds. Good luck

There are hobbies that even upper middle class folks can't afford. Buy from the classifieds, no shame in it.

Don't know exactly what you mean...."middle class pay check" can cover a pretty wide range.

Very subjective.

Yep. I've lost track of how many times in my life I had people complain to me about how much money they don't have for something even as they drive a car that was bought new and cost well over what they make in a year. Between the used market and the way most electronics are a fraction of what they used to cost per unit of functionality, there is a place for about anyone in this hobby.

Look in his gallery and he has pics of a heli that I consider to be very overpriced and a true boutique heli (6mo. waiting list)with high dollar servos installed

So what is the point of this topic? This is an expensive hobby, can everyone enjoy it? No. Is it for everyone? No. The mindset that it's not fair or "why do you get to have what I can't "
Is what is destroying our nation. I have what I have and enjoy what I like many enjoy because I work and earn my money for it. If you can't afford it move on to something you can! You can't have champagne taste on a beer budget.

I like it, and it is true. I don't really see the point on this but since it is post it I quest I feel compelling to give my opinion as well.
Indeed, this hobby can be expensive but i don't think that is the case now. I still remember when I join the service back in 1996, with little as $1,100 pay check a month, I used to go at local hobby shop in Colorado Springs that I loved so much just staring at the Heli and radio and hopping that one day I may have the mean to own one. The old white lady with her sick husband (God bless their soul) used to take their time to show me around and talk to me about the latest techs. Knowing that I could not effort it, their generosity made me love the hobby even more. Eight years later, I was able to own my very first helicopter (Jr Venture). yes it was not cheap to get start but I was in borderline of the middle class salary, but i worked hard for. Today, I feel blessed and privileged to be able to buy whatever I want whenever I want. My Dad used to tell me "there is time for everything". Yes the hobby is not for everyone, but if you want it so bad with hard work, there is a place, and something for you. Right now you are reading this post because we all share something in common, let's have fun by enjoying one of the best past time ever. God bless everyone of you, go FLY.
