Roban Super Scale on 6s
Fastphil got me thinking about low HS.. so I wanted to know what rpm we would get on a single 6s with 13.8:1 gearing and a 520 kv motor. I don't think I'll be flying on a single pack!

At no load.. zero pitch spool up the starting rpm was 958. After a 5 minute no load run the final rpm was 930.. The battery was awesome.. starting at 4.20 per and ending at 4.10 per.
Anyway I just had to know for sure. Thought I would share.

Hi Dennis, Thanks for the testing, I have my sights on a new Roban SS and was hoping to power it up also with a single 6s, but I guess with it's gearing, it's a no-go....I am still flying my 700-size TRex with the Hughes fuselage on a single 6s, and my brother has just about the same set-up except for the motor, and after a day of testing, his would only fly with two 6s....my heli has a Super Power-size motor...Thanks again for the test!

Super Power-size motor..
Do tell.. what is it?

Well I finally flew my mechs today as a 2 blade. I used brand new 5000 mah packs and was amazed!! I got two 5 minute flights and came down with 3.80 per cell after the flights. My highest power out reading was 78.0% @ 1400 rpm. The esc high temp was 132.0F, the lowest voltage was 45.0 at the very end of the second flight. Mostly in hover, very little FF so it will use more voltage. I think I can live with that.

Very nice rcjp... Would you mind telling me your motor KV and gearing? I'm building a 700 JR as we speak. Except I'm using 600 mechs stretched.Dennis

I just built for a friend a 700 roban 206 running on 6S 5800mah
Which give him just under 10min of flight time. And the battery, esc, and motor dont even get warm! This is a 600esp stretch to 700 with a 1120HS and flys super stable and at 9:45min flight time it's a joy to fly.he want it to be as scale as possible including CCW ROTATION and tail rotor on the left side and mind you this is a trex600,in a 700 fuse.

Great job Ed!!, I too have a motion RC jet ranger with Align 700 mechanics, with tail rotor on the correct side but not CCW on the main rotor, using a 5000ma battery for receiver and a 5000 6s battery and getting 8 minutes of flight time RPMs are 930 and battery and ESC are barely warm and still have 25 to 30% battery at the end of flight. Also have exact same setup on my motion RC Bell 222 except it has a 1100 RPM rotor speed, Its been a joy to fly!! Have videos of them on the scale videos on this section of runryder.

Yeah same type of setup but using a 600 instead, and it's not hard to make it CCW ROTATION I've done it a bunch of build with trex mechanics. Plus flying a scale bird with CCW ROTATION is alittle different then CW.edward lopez sanchez

Yes I have a Vario bell 47 with the CCW rotation, seems like no difference to me when flying, very smooth machine! And fun to fly😁

Very nice looking bird. great job. I'm envious. Those old 600 ESP mechs are great for the 700 Roban and Century. I'm using the 600 CF in my new 700. I hate the anti-rotation guide.Dennis

I’m with you Dennis on the 600esp models. This year at Perry there were quite a few for sale. I bought one for $300 rtf then found one that looked new for $200 but I was too late as it sold right away.Roy Mayoral

There is a newer version of the 600 ESP on the market. It's made by Phoenix Tech. The frame is a couple milometers wider so to except larger motors with a 30mm bolt pattern. So you don't have to mod the frame and find a adjustable motor mount like the one RJX made which is no longer on the market. I sold a 600CF to a friend a few years ago and I had to talk him into switching motor mounts with me cause it had the adjustable mount and I needed it to mount a HK 4525 520kv in my build. John Salt at rchelicopterfun.com in canada sells them for $469.00 without canopy. ETA restock June 2020.
