Looking at doing some traveling, and would like to take my 700 with me. Anyone have hard case suggestions? I can't use a golf bag and was I was looking to be as compact as possible.

Pictures welcome.

Thank you,

I am curious why you say "no" to a golf bag? Years ago I used a hard plastic golf "bag" to carry two Raptor 50's. I had to remove the blades and remove the tail and landing gear from the "fish head". All the parts for two complete helis went in and reassembly did not take too long. The torque tube on a 700 would make reassembly even easier.

How about this one, you wouldn't even have to fold the blades

In the past, I have used a Pelican Case, either a 1610 or 1650 (can't remember the exact number now). Took all the foam out and placed a Raptor 50 and a 90 in there, strategically using pieces of foam for support / protection. I had to take off the landing gear, head and of course the tail boom. On the 90, I had to take off the tail case off the boom because it would not fit. Radio was packed in a separate case. I did not fly commercially, but had to pack the back seat of my truck with toys and tools for a 6-month project away from home. Better packing and better planning would have made commercial flying possible.

If Mark Ryder sees this post, he could show you an old picture of a Freya 90 packed into a Samsonite Suitcase.

From what I've seen, a hard-sided golf case is by far the easiest way to transport helis via airline.
