Looks like it was a great event!! Peter, your vids are excellent. I was listening to your coaching of Marcus, great job building his confidence. That wind is not easy to fly in.

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!

Ok guys, I shot too much video, to put it all on 1 clip would be way longer than this. It is hard to pick out the "best" 20-30 seconds of any of them because you guys are all great pilots. But of all of them, my vote would go to the MIL MI-8 . Peter, the build is spectacular and the flight was flawless.

Enjoy,

I didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time!

Thanks for all the great pictures, great coverage. Looks like everyone had a hand in covering the event. Nice to see all the familiar faces and the warm weather. Any word on how Darrell's dad is doing? Hope to see everyone soon. Regards, Gayl

Here are some more pictures. The flight line photo I had to take out of the video I was shooting while setting up. I would rather have been a little further back but, canopies and such in the way. Oh well, I will be better organized next year.

Our Youngest Pilot...
Marcus...
This young gentleman did an outstanding job flying in some "not so friendly sky's" during the week..
Grand Dad has done a great job teaching him, not only to fly, but also the art of building, painting and understanding the workings...
Great job Marcus!!

Thanks guys. For those who were there and saw the Super Scale Jayhawk incident, I have been tasked with repairing and repainting the fuse. But being RR is going off the air, I will start a thread over on Helifreak.

Quick question for Emile -- Where did you find that tail-wheel strut for your UH-60? (or did you fab it yourself?)

I am looking for one for my Blackhawk that allows the wheel to pivot like that so I can taxi easier. The one I currently have is fixed, so the wheel cannot pivot at all. Thanks.

Good looking scale helis guys but mostly from what I've seen so far including all other video clips, scale helis MUST be flown like a scale (as close to the real things as possible). I know it is very hard to do that as it is just another skill level to F3C and 3D but more F3C like. The overused key word here is "smooth" from spooling up, taking off, flying around and of course the approach and final landing. Not to criticize anyone here but would love to see more realistic scale flying. I've seen similar comments on youtube. The Mil here definitely showed the best but didn't see its take off and landing.

My MD500E fb 600 size after some tweaking now can take off and land vertically smooth with careful control. I believe the bigger the scale helis the more realistic flight they are but taking off and landing are overlooked most of the time.

Believe me, the MIL take off and landing were spot on as well. My video was all about timing and giving 20-30 seconds per video. It was a very cool event though. Cant wait for next year.
Still kinda bummed this site is going away.

I saw its clip and NO the take off and landing were not even close to a standard 3D 500+ size. It tilted sliding backwards with a bit of wobbling maybe because of the strong wind?

lord o lord...

Please... show us how then.. lets see your SCALE FLIGHT videos.

If you think its just a smooth take off and hover.. PA-LEASE...

You can see mine any time at youtube and then Grimracer1.. feel free to blast away.. I know the work it takes to fly scale.

Scale gang.. sorry for that.. I LOVED the flights as I know VERY well how hard that can be AND the hours of setup and flight practice and I was JUST Not going to sit and let that dude pull that shi....
