Hi all,
I'm new to FPV, but I've been flying Helicopters and Quads for some time. The question That i have is what Channels are best to use for FPV. I know there are 40 Some channels, but I'm sure there are some that are better than other for interference and such. So what are the "clearest" channels? and which ones are the most used for racing?

I never noticed any difference if there are no other signals on the channel.

Would there be if two adjacent channels are in use? I noticed that when i was scrolling through the channels on my receiver (because i didn't know exactly which channel the transmitter was on) that i could receive a picture on a couple of channels. I just stopped on the one that "seemed" best to me. So i thought they must be some "bleed over" in the channels.

I certainly don't know, and am just now getting the info together to get the ham licence, So i thought i'd ask.

Main thing with 5.8g fpv is to try to keep ~40 mhz diff between other fpv flyers. The most popular 4 channels we use at my flying club are Fatshark channels 1, 3, 5, and 7 = 5740, 5780, 5820, and 5860 respectively. This works very well and we've found that all these freq's get ~ the same reception.

You really do not want more than 4 fpv flyers terrorising the airspace at the same time imho, lol!

Also, please always check what 5.8g freq's guys are using before you power up. There is nothing worse than having someone power up on your freq (or too close to it). One minute you are flying around, enjoying the scenery, the next minute all you see the grass in front of the other guys aircraft, lol!

Cheers,
TomC

Also a good reason to know what channels are used most! maybe the days of the "frequency board" aren't over yet!

Ya I think the freq board has made a good come back!

For me, I fly in a really bad RF environments and have found that the top and bottom of Race Band are are bit quieter, being out side of ISM and all.

One way to get more pilots in the band is by using LHCP and RHCP on adjacent channels, we have had 9 in the air at once but it took a lot of cooperation and a bit of luck.

The newer Pagoda antennas helped quite a bit though, we tried on standard clovers and skews a while ago and just could not get good enough video.

Anyways Happy New Years and happy flying!
