Ron Lund
So what would you like to say about Ron Lund??

As a heli flyer I should say that It is great to have a helicopter only shop. The end is about to come but I see it as something normal besides Ron deserves to retire after 25 years of selling heli stuff that many times was only available from Ron Lund. Throughout the years he had some very nice heli stuff that was very hard to find elsewhere. Many times I had fun by just browsing this great shop with so much heli stuff. Personally I bought stuff from him since 2008.
Definitly that kind of hobby shop is a dream come true for us heli flyers.

Best regards Ron!!

And thanks to make our dreams come true!!

Ron will be missed, he's a asset to our hobby. I think it was 1994 that I try to purchase a 10SX radio and no body had them, got hold of Ron and he told me Rick just got one and he has not unbox it yet, so Ron when to Ricks(it was Call Ricks then)and got it and shipped to me, been friends with him ever since. See him give $20,000.00 of stuff at his fun flys, never miss one of his fun flys, hate to see him go, have fun old buddy. Bobby Sellers

Not only will Ron be sorely missed, as he was a true icon retailer in the RC Heli industry, but he is a true gentleman as an individual in every sense of the word.Phil

stuck to his guns in staying with helis.... 25 years is a very long time in this arena when fads come and go and your part of it. his retirement is well deserved.

I see the big onlines dedicated to volume and selection killing more businesses like these... sad but just the reality of things now.

Keep in mind that Ron is RETIRING, not being driven out of business.

After 25 years in the business, it is difficult for him to walk away from such Killer, loyal customer base.

But, as he's stated, there are things he still wants to do, and enjoying retirement is high on that list.

Happy trails, Ron. You have earned it.

I think you ignoring the obvious... yes he is ... 'retiring'

BUT he is also closing down the store...

you can retire as a business owner and hand the keys over to a family member to keep milking the cow.... and come over for a cold one now and then.

problem is the cow has no more milk to give.... time to cash it out an enjoy a nice steak.

But its his new life... hopefully we can see him out there at more Fun Flies....

given the state of the hobby... I wouldnt try to open a heli shop. likely will sell at wholesale to other hobby shops remaining stuff.... then use the building for something else.. maybe or maybe not hobby related.

This is what happened to a hobby shop in Houston TX (Larry's)... another shop bought the remaining stock, the retail site sold/rented to another business

who ever they are, If they go back to helis, I wish them luck... its a tough market right now. Not sure what kinda strategy they would have against other shops.

Purchased mainly Robbe parts from his shop since 2011. Had it shipped to various places in France and Hong Kong. Always flawless service, not a dent to be mentioned. Tailor made service - no nonsens business. I never met or spoke to the Gentleman, but I am very confident that he is one! Thanks, Ron. Enjoy the fun to come. It is the end of an era for sure. I always enjoyed getting part quick and definitely enjoyed his company at numerous fun flys.

I came in second in an impromptu auto contest that he put up money for during a funfly back in 2004.

Would love to get down to Corpus to fly with him some day. I never got to go to the big events that he held there.

A Toast to Ron
As many of you said before, Ron offered real value for many many years. Really hits home when one of the big names in RC Heli Retail closes down. Especially when he is a neighbor of about 3 hours away.

Heres a video I came across on Youtube done up by Curtis Youngblood's website admin (at the time). Can't recall his name. Gives a good 100,000 foot view of what his shop was like back in the day. This was a time when you would go to his shop and his entire team (Nathan, Karen, Rachel and Jon) would be there. Made it to his funfly in '04, '05 and '07. Great time flying with good folks and great shopping (when he opened up the store after dinner) Good times indeed.

Watch at YouTube

You will be missed Pal..

I should say that I am one of those guys that has never been lucky enough to get inside a heli shop by my self. There are just a few around the world and we are losing another one.
But this video is almost like being there in person.
Really nice to see so much heli stuff that is nowadays imposible to find in most hobby shops.

Xtreme, thanks for posting the video, that was really cool to watch. I've bought from Ron for >10 years and he was always the golden standard for service, which I'm sure is a reflection of his standards as a person. It was nice to see the size and scale of the parts inventory that he had in the heyday of helis.
