Yes it was .... for a rank beginner..... most of us just learned how to compensate which becomes second nature in no time at all .....

I'm sure it works but have never seen anyone actually do it ....
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

I've read of a saying by full-scale pilots "left skid low, ready to go". In other words, not level in a hover.
(Since our models typically have rotors turning the other way, it'd be the right skid low.)
