JR to Spektrum 2048 or 1024
Hard to find info on this,Im using JR dsx9 radio with Spektrum dsm2 satellites,1 out of 10 flights I lose rx link, replaced the cables on the Sats had the radio checked over by JR,no Carbon blocking the Sats,I have the Sats set at 2048,not sure if there is a big difference between 2048 and 1024,would 1024 make any difference,Skookum 540,I cant figure out what the problem is.

if I am not mistaken dsm2 sats are 1024 and 22ms

I would recommend putting a dab of glue on the connectors where the wires join

See page 12 of the Skookum manual it says:
Spektrum/JR Sats are the default setting for receivers in the SK 540’s interface. Newer Spektrum TXs (DX7se and newer) use 2048 resolution, older (DX-7, DX-6 and older) use 1024.
Yours qualifies as "older", unless it has been updated to DSM-X, then I don't know.

Regardless of whether that is the cause, why not set them to 1024 per THEIR recommendations ??Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

dsmx or dsm2
Please let me know what the difference is,was told to go with 2048 by Skookum.

The difference is resolution.frame rate and quite possibly proto calls for fades and signal loss.
maybe skookum should list the sats better such as dsmx dsm2 or dmss
What you were told doesn't seem to work.
For myself my 600n has a 540 using dsm2 sats set to 1024 22ms and I a haven't issues that I know of.

if you want to experiment at your own risk then be carefull

Hey.

Remembering in back to my old DSX12 days, in order to get 2048 res on DSM2 I had to run a separate Rx in the model capable of 2048 res on DSM2. There was only a couple of JR Rx's that then offered 2048 in DSM2 mode.
When using sats only, they only did 1024 res on DSM2.

In light of this I'd say you can only achieve 1024 res when using sats.

our wires are blocked by carbon, does that not effect.
only partly no it doesn't appear to affect rx signal as long as there is enough space around it, It is when you enclose a rx in CF that it becomes a problem

Log
Got my log back, yep lost signal for a few seconds, have now moved one Satellite to the back, just wondering will it cause any problems if the Satellite is set at a slight angle,as my manual recommends one satellite vertical the other horizontal, this is just an old satellite no wiring but would like to keep it at this angle, the other satellite up front horizontal

I just ran into your picture here with the explanation this is an old one and has no wires - including no antenna wires.

Three instances in the past year, no loss of control, and most likely a momentary single receiver at that, doesn't set off any alarm bells. Seems to me you are experiencing the rewards of having diversity receivers.

You do remember once upon a time in the 72 MHz FM radio days, the occasional glitch, though momentarily unsettling, was not an indication of impending doom.

don't worry about satellite orientation it doesn't matter as long as it can get the signal.

you can put them front and back or 1 on each side as long as they don't get filled with oil (nitro).
