Well Guys I did it. I got her fixed and ready in time for Helipad Scale Fly in.

The day started well clear skies no wind to speak off, on arrival checked in ad set up

Once on the table she soon attracted attention and eventually between talking with lots people I got the blades fitted

By this time the wind had got up to a steady breeze with strong unpredictable gusts and it looked highly like she would not fly but suddenly the wind dropped and I managed to a flight in sadly no pics yet

Then it was time for them to announce the best helicopter. To my surprise and joy I was awarded third place. I was absolutely delighted as this was my first appearance at any event

Even 10 minutes later the sudden squall of heavy rain and winds couldn't dampen my joy

so glad I took brollies just in case

The squall pasted but sadly it looked like the weather would not improve so I decided to leave early. It was a brilliant day and I'd like to thank helipad for their hospitality and everyone there I met and chatted with.

well guys I had the icing on the cake this weekend when my lynx won best in show at a model engineering show.

I was very surprised as a lone model helicopter amongst all the boats, locomotives, traction and steam engines got noticed let alone won

Thank you very much Larry

I hope my build shows others that even smaller sized helicopters can make great scale helicopters and even after a mishap with a little know how all is not lost.

I'm have great fun with my choppers and have several projects waiting to be started

I'm still plodding on with the 4 blade tail rotor.

Today I fitted it to my Assault 450

Have done hover tests in garden which started with a dreadful wag but a change of servo from cheap chink go-teck to a align ds535 sorted that out. taking her out tomorrow afternoon for proper flight test weather permitting

As its a bit bodge it and scarper. My plan is to fly it for 30 flights without incident before painting and fitting to the lynx

Did a single test flight this afternoon wasn't good conditions and probably right on the edge for me. Winds 15-20 mph gusting to 30. The 4 blade head worked very flying slow and fast circuits and lazy 8s. Pirouettes left and right was nice.

Hoping to get more flights in tomorrow this time my mrs will video and take some pics

Much better conditions this morning only a 9mph wind. Looks like this is going to be windy season.

Anyway managed to get out this morning for a few flight.

Apologises for my wife's filming she's not the best but she tries.

Everything seems to be working as advertised and was a very enjoyable flight on post flight inspection everything looked good. The plan is to do lots more flights in this standard configuration then fit a 4 blade main rotor head, elevate the tail rotor basically get her flying exactly as mechanics in the fuselage

I also flew the lynx this morning. I'm still learning to fly her nicely and get to grips with her quirks.

Hoping to go to the Midlands scale Fly In this Saturday weather permitting.

Was flying the 4 blade test helicopter today and noticed an unusual tail flutter post flight investigation revealed sliding bush is sliding inside pitch spider

Watch at YouTube

Will strip it down later this week to see why it is sliding where it shouldn't be

Will also be a good time to fit the new one piece hub I have had machined

Stripped the 4 blade tail rotor down today

It appears the brass sliding bush had become dethatched from the spider and sliding in an out a few mm caused the flutter and non positive tail control

IMG_1184 by https://www.flickr.com/photos/152745608@N06/, on Flickr

This part will be replaced with an align sliding bush and control link and the spider modified to support this change

Also today my friend gave the one piece hub and feathering shafts he machined to my design.
