which E mechanics to use with Vario benzine fuselages?
so..
im yanking the turbine out of the Bell 230 and going to convert it to electric flight.. fuse is getting too hot as this is a benzine version of the heli.. smaller then the turbine version..

anyhow

need some guidance on which mechanics to use..

obviously this wont be a 3D/freestyle monster, im going after scale flying, but with a reserve in power and agility for those "oh &%^&" moments

any suggestions on a good e-flight system that wont break the bank?

What is your gear ratio?

Not much need to convert. If you opt not to use a clutch simply DIY the motor mount. Motor pulley and belt can be sourced from http://www.sdp-si.com.

The only real option is a Trex of some flavor, but i am not sure it will lift the load. The torque tube length becomes an issue as well.
Other than that, 1002/21 works well converted.

What turbine mechs are in the heli now? It may be cheaper, easier and less work to convert those mechs to electric. Then you don't have to totally reconfigure the heli. Unless you don't want to go that route. I second Joe's recommendation, converting benzin mechs to electric.

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!

converting the turbine mechs to electric is definately not cost effective, the turbine is going into another heli,

im thinking chaos 700 size rtf pod and booms or something along thse lines,

when i built my 550 size cobra, i picked up a swift kit and its been flying great for yrs now..

but the varion fuse is larger and heavier and i dont have too much exp in large scale e-flight mechanics

Converting to electric
If you have access to the benzine mechanics you substitute an electric motor for the gas engine keeping the clutch. I've converted my Vario EC 145 to electric using a KDE motor(295kv) and Castle Creations ESc. Flys well on 12s

Or.... you could use goblin mechanics and make them fit easily. Joe at ECSRCH has the mechanics ready with lowered tail output....

Bulletproof from what I hear....
