flybar with 3sx
after a lot of yes no yes and talking to other rc helicopter nuts I am going to pull out my aurora 9 gear and go with Futaba s-bus with a 3sx tail- head control unit, which will cut down on a lot of wires in the under floor part of the Hirobo Bell47g. this does have paddles and I was told this will work very well by BavarianDEMON CO Germany. so they are saying it will make it more stable. Of course i need to deactivate the flybarless software! so how can i go wrong? better than lawn bowls.need to get a joy stick.

Where are all of my flybar friends?
I still fly lots of antiques, that use a flybar, and its great, and my x-cell 60, and pro II K will do a hover hands off. I learned to fly FBL with a Kavan Jet Ranger(crap), then a GMP Legend, that I wore out. I still fly FBL, but I like being the "pilot in command", not some electronic crap. Less electronics is always best in my opinion. I need to find another GMP Legend new in the box. They fly much like a full size.

I see this hobby as being very trendy, which is not my bag. The Chinese are also busy steering this hobby in a direction they prefer. So sad! I will continue to fly FB and nitro even if I need to Manufacture my own.

I agree that Hirobo is excellent, and have owned a couple. MA, and Hirobo are in my opinion, top of the heap. Much less maintenance if any at all.

I have a couple FBL machines. But, I dusted off my Vibe 50 last weekend. Pulled the engine for a bearing replacement and before I knew it was dark outside and I was heating up the oven to get the bearing out. Haven't had so much fun in a while. Flew the snot out of it the next day and every day since. These machines have so much character that is missing from the current crop of electrics. At least for me anyway

That sounds like a great fun fly. The more I fly my flybar helicopters the more I like them. The Hirobo heads are a work of art.

I think with the downturn in heli flying we will notice more of us diehards flying flybar and glow.

I have been really enjoying the catalogues on the vrhc.co.uk website. I would love to fly a Concert 60SR II, they look like a lot of fun. So many interesting models have given way for the now bland and over simplified FBL electrics. Although I am quite obsessed with this hobby there would barely be any new helicopters I would want to own. For me we are down to Hirobo and Quest. Nothing else does it for me.

Well I can say that there's one more here to be counted.
Doesn't seam like there is the numbers that I thought would be here.
I just suggested to Mark that maybe a Classic section would be useful. I look at the Vintage-Antique section but see no talk of older helicopters. That is for selling old outdated heli's not promoting them.
In checking here I find the same. Actually there are more questions on FBL than flybar heli's.
PaulBowen, I have been on your other post that have gotten me excited abought older classic heli's. I know your topic was were is everyone but it did a good job of getting people to talk. It seams that a lot of people remember there old heli's and would like to have discussions on them.
Thanks for your post.

Thanks for the kind words 870heli. It’s hard to generate a bit of positive conversation without sounding old, sad, cynical, trivial or just a click baiter.

I used to dream of ways to remove flybars from my fleet, now I dream of owning more flybar helicopters!

Nostalgia creeps in where you least expect it.. At least it shows RC Heli's have been around long enough for nostalgia to set in.. Will this happen with drones I wonder?

I love my FB heli´s (predominantly Robbe/Schluter). I can´t compare to any 2 blade FBL, as I don´t have any, but I do have FBL 3 blade and 4 blades - does that count as FBL? Robbe Nova Cuatro Gas/Nitro, Futura Nova Nitro, Futura SS Nitro, Vario Scale S300C/1002/21 Gas.

All of my choppers are flyerbars . I have fun with them all the time, Raptors,Aligns,Kyoshos, and Minature Aircrafts. Its a hobby and you have to work on them just like any other hobby, and yes its getting harder to find parts.I'am keeping it alive as much as I can and also helping others if needed with the old school helicopters. Thanks for this site I am able to do this.I wish everyone a safe holiday season and enjoy the time you have with your family and friends, it goes by really fast if you know what I mean.Anyway God bless and keep the flybars spinning.

I'm currently flying two Hirobo Freyas, a Hirobo GPH, and a Kalt Baron 20 all with fb heads. In case anyone is interested, Hirobo still sells brand new Freyas with the SSZ-V fb rotor head. I love how fb heads fly, and I will continue to fly them as long as I can,

It's funny, I started on flybars, then naturally went over to FBL like a sheep! I now have flybar machines again and after flying only the flybar machines for a couple of years I recently flew my old FBL Blade 360CFX and it felt totally unnatural and weird! Sure you get used to it but I just prefer the way a flybar heli feels.60% of the time, it works every time!
